[Name] had always liked stories, ever since he was a child, sucking them up like a sponge and eventually retelling them forward, that certain type of light shining in his [e/c] eyes. Another thing that the boy had always liked was to collect very special stones. They couldn't be just any old rocks, oh no. He needed to feel the rock's presence. And so he was often seen, walking on the beach his eyes closed, following an unseen thread which eventually brought him to different kinds of stones. Shiny, matte, see through, gems, common, they all had a meaning to them.
Like many, [Name], could also see the trails of markings that came from his soul bonded, but they never were the type to stick too long, so it didn't really matter to him that way. After all, he wasn't a seeker of romance, he only wished for a friend who'd share his peculiar interest.
Before long, he'd grown tired of not hearing new stories, having already memorised them all and none of his tribe could understand his little hobby of collecting things. Sitting down on his little hiding place, thinking about it, the now a teenaged boy thought bitterly back to soul mates and bonds.
Apparently soul mates were people who could understand you perfectly, complete you, and that was the reason why many sought to marry their fated ones as they called them. So he couldn't help but to hope, hope that his bonded would be able to understand his frustration and need to collect these little things that were a lot dearer to him than any treasure.
It was at this point that the eighteen year old [h/c] could suddenly see something that he was sure he should be. Several people, miles away, or at least the coloured outlines of them. He wasn't entirely sure what it meant, but he was sure that it had to do with the person he was bonded to from birth. Closing his eyes once more, [Name] stood up, following the call of his next treasure.
The thought of his potential lover/best friend didn't cross his mind for the next two years.
The collection of different types of stones grew and along with that, [Name] found out that his ability to relate, gather and release energy of others made him a rather good doctor when it came to mental health. It really helped that the people saw him as a good trustworthy man willing to listen to their troubles and stories, one of which was the local prosthesis maker, who was plagued by the guilt of his soul mate dying in an accident. From the second the man had stepped in, [Name] had noticed the aura of loss and sadness that he emitted along with the lost leg and lost shine in his eyes. What he hadn't expected however, was the spirit of the said soul mate being attached to him, trying to soothe him down, and help, but the grief was too strong.
Before long, the [h/c] had managed to help his patient with his troubled mind, and also helped the soul mate to reach out to his would've been lover.
It was at this point of life that he once more was reminded of the lack of his own little anchor in reality which also resulted in his revelation. He hadn't even once come across this person, he hadn't even felt his presence on the island, yet he could always feel how he was doing and how he felt.
The mystery person was an outsider.
This thought was exhalirating yet oh so horrendously fear inducing, it meant that there was a high chance of this person dying before [Name] could meet them. And he truly wanted to meet them, show them his little collection, hear their stories.
It had been another thing the bright eyed man had realised before long, stories. People who bonded usually were the other side of the same beri, they were meant to fit, meant to be the other half of a pair. And since [Name] preferred to listen and gather stories more than he did to retell them to his audience, it had to be so that his fated one was the type to tell stories. They were an entertainer by heart.
