Josh's POV

"Damn shake that ass baby!!"

"Whooooooooo"

"Wow he's looking good!!"

I heard men screaming and whistling before I even walked into the club. I sighed. Funny how the world works. I always thought of men who were cowards to live in their own truth. People who just wanted to hook up and disappear. I never really thought that I'd ever find love or end up in a relationship. If I knew...I never would've taken this job. I hesitated near the front of the building and my cousin noticed.

"Yo you coming or what? We have money to make sugar buns" He chuckles.

"Fuck you, don't call me that" I hissed in response. I loved my cousin Adrian but he was a dick in all honesty. Not to me, but just to...everybody else. He was also disowned by his parents for being gay but he was fine with it. He hated them anyway. When we both got kicked out around the same time, we both went to live with our other uncle. It was then that he got a job at the club and got me in as well. With all the money we made, we easily moved out on our own. Me at my place and him at his. And while the money was good, I often questioned my integrity after each shift.

"Relax cuzzo, I was just messing with you. Now come on and let's hurry to the dressing room. You know Steve hates when any of the dancers are late."

The moment we were in the building I immediately started to smell perfume and fruits. When I first walked into this joint, I always imagined strip clubs would smell like sweat and desperation. I was completely wrong. We pass the crowds and head towards the back room for staff only.

"-I right?"

"Huh?"

"I said the club is pretty packed tonight, am I right? Honey you need to get your head out the clouds and stop looking so surprised at all the money. You know we get all the rich men from town in here. You're not a newbie here anymore."

"Yeah you're right, I'm sorry

"Yeah you're right, I'm sorry. But I'm not looking like this because I'm surprised. It's because I'm thinking of Kaden" I say as I watch my cousin throw his outside clothes to the ground. He was one of the flashiest dancers here so I wasn't surprised when he pulled out a crazy colorful outfit. I mean seriously. Everything about him screamed: gay gold-digger.

"How about you stop judging my outfit and get ready for your dance" he said arching an eyebrow and I looked over at him and laughed.

"Honey I was just admiring all those colors. Is it dress like a rainbow day?" I joked and he hit my shoulder.

"Screw you man, you know I look good! That's why I always make the most on stage!" he laughed back and we joked around for a little while longer before finishing getting dressed for work.

As I finished up my hair, my phone rang.

Shit.

We weren't supposed to have them on at work. I must've forgotten.

Incoming call from: Daddy💞

I bite my lip. I never missed calls from Kaden. But if I picked up, he'd know where I worked at. You could hear everything in the back and I wasn't ready to tell him yet. I would, just not right now. And besides, I always worked night shifts so maybe he'd just assume that I was sleep.

He calls again and I hit the mute button before heading to my boss's office to get my dancing schedule for tonight.
