Zoro and Sanji sparred on deck. The clash of swords and super strong leather dress shoes echoed in the air. Nami looked up from her map and gave Robin a questioning look but the archeologist too had no idea how this all started.
"What are those two idiots doing?"
She wasn't in the mood so she turned a blind eye and switched on the chair to tan her back. It was a terribly nice day and Nami used the opportunity to take a nap. They were to arrive at the next island in about two hours so all they had to do was wake her up when they docked. God forbid something went wrong. She trusted her crewmates enough to not sink the ship.
Zoro and Sanji, all sweaty and exhausted ended their fight in a draw and both of them trampled over to Luffy to settle the score.
"Luffy," they both said.
Luffy turned from his look out on Sunny's head and turned to address his friends.
"As the ship's captain, Luffy," Sanji began, "You've known all of us the longest."
"Be honest, which one of us is the strongest? Me or Sanji?"
For added measure, Zoro flexed the muscles he worked hard for, his pecks threatened to poke holes in his shirt and Sanji shook his head and regarded the poor muscle for brains with disinterest. Even he knew that strength had more to do than just physique. You had to have skill, the brains. A well trained body was only convincing on the outside.
The answer was obviously him. He was certain he defeated more enemies than the marimo shit-for-brains and his quick thinking had lead the crew to many victories.
"Don't waste your time thinking on the matter, Luffy."
"I don't have to think about it."
The swordsmen and cook gritted their teeth and prepared for their captain's seal of approval. None of them were prepared for what he had to say next.
"It's neither of you."
They gawked wondering who was so worthy. They both had fought alongside their captain shoulder to shoulder. Neck to neck. Out of everyone, they protected the crew more as if their lives depended on it.
"Then who is it then?"
"It's Nami," Luffy grinned from ear to ear looking in his navigator's direction. Nami was snoring silently away and Luffy resumed his spot dismissing the clueless clowns.
Both Sanji and Zoro were quick to swallow their pride. There was no more room for debate. They couldn't argue with that. He was right. And captain's word was final.
To be continued
