Present Day

Vibrations swept through my body and the pounding beat of the music made me feel alive.

The building was a heat wave combined with messy, mixed up hormones and the strong smell of sweat when I inhaled deeply.

I was almost  blinded by the lights that shone out amongst the darkness creating patterns on the ceiling and the neon signs that illuminated brightly, however, despite this, the place was still poorly lit.

Everyone stopped in awe as the percussion paused but as soon as the bass dropped everyone howled with excitement and the whole atmosphere instantly became a whole lot more wild.

The vibe triggered by the sound system sent pulsations rolling through my nerves inviting me to submit to the youth of the night.

The music was cranked up where it was to the point where you had to either scream to communicate or simply mouth the words.

I felt something cold lightly graze my arm and I turned around to face my best friend  Faye placing a cold glass of alcohol in my hand.

"Thanks" I mouth.

It was thanks to her connections that we even got into this club seeming that we're underaged.

I regretted it at the time but as soon as we entered "The Underground" it was like a whole different world.

She beamed at me and introduced me to a lanky looking dude with slicked back greasy blonde hair.

He stared at me while licking his lips, I felt uneasy at the sketchy character and covered my cleavage with the glass suddenly feeling self-conscious and worried.

"This is Lance" she yelled next to my ear, I peered over to Lance and he continued to look me up and down with a hungry appetite.

My so called friend left me alone with this creep and stumbled over to the bar getting a refill for her unsatisfying thirst.

"Hi" I yelled, wishing he couldn't hear me.

He smiled, showing a set of crooked teeth and leaned in closer sliding his hand down my back, "Want to get to know me?" I almost gagged at the overwhelming stench of alcoholic breath.

I didn't like where this was going.

"No thanks" I muttered as I turned away disgusted.

A forceful grasp pulled me back, the same dude I walked away from but this time he looked pissed off, an angry scowl emerging.

"Listen, I don't know you and I don't want to" I shouted and as this happened his scowl disappeared and he just blankly stared with a glazed expression, completely frozen.

He looked like he was in some kind of trance and I was already so creeped out so I yanked my arm away from his clench and rushed to find Faye.

I found her leaning against the counter sweet talking up some random bar tender.

"There's my main girl Shay..." she trilled as she saw me "Where's the guy I left you with?".

I rolled my eyes at her attempt to find me a boyfriend, she was always trying to hook me up with someone.

"He was creepy and I didn't like the way he was looking at me". Faye chugged down the last of her 8th drink and chortled "Come on Shay, you need to find someone tonight and stop making up excuses, at least have a bit of fun".
