that's how long he's been waiting for this moment.

the black-haired boy paced around his room, his heart thumping wildly in his chest as he waited for a specific call. he couldn't tell if he was dreaming or not, it was too good to be true.

a specific ring vibrates on his dresser as he rushes to it and takes a look at the call i.d. just another scammer.

he sighs and declines the call while blocking the number aggravatingly. he thinks to himself that he needs to sit down, that he needs a drink of water, that he needs to calm down and relax, but none were working. he heaves a second sigh as he makes way to his couch. before he has the chance to sit down or even think, another call is heard on his dresser once again.

he almost groans in frustration, but the rings vibrate so recklessly it seems as if its almost deafening to his ears, this phone is practically begging for him to answer. perhaps this was it. he rushes to his phone once again where the call he's been tensing up over is visible on the screen.

his intentions were right.

however, his breath stops for a second, and he forgets all sense of reality. he doesn't know what to do. he sits there staring at the call i.d.

he couldn't bring himself to answer the phone, not with the thoughts around his head, especially the negative ones roaming. he shakes his head along with the negative thoughts and with a look of certainty, he answers the phone.

"h-hello?" he cringes as he hears himself stutter, but it was too late to beat himself up over how shaky and weak it was. his tone was the last thing on his mind now. pulling the phone against his ear to catch a quick cough, he returns his phone back in its original place, where a sweet and comforting tone is heard on the other line.

"hi, are you mingi?"

the lady on the other line asks as several noises are heard in the back. well, it was a hospital, of course, it'd be busy with the many new children and adults being rushed in.

"this is he, have you-"

"we checked miss l/n's condition and she seems to be regaining consciousness. you can come by to see her if you want."

even with the phone pressed against his ear and his heart thumping aggressively, he could still feel as if this nurse was smiling over the phone.

"thank you... i'll come by soon," he says as the call ends with a click and the small phone screen turns black again.

he heaves a breathless sigh and makes way to his kitchen, where he fills a cold glass of water and washes away his dry throat with the liquid. he lets out a shaky sigh for the nth time and lets his head fall into his hands as he tries to keep all of his emotions under control. he wanted to smile, laugh, and cry all at once. yet the only emotion he was able to do at that moment,

was cry.
