Nahla2 MONTH LATER
"You want something to eat?" I watched as he got into the drivers side of the car. When I didn't reply he looked up at me with his brow raised slightly. "Nahla?" He calls.
I shook my head looking away from him.
"You need to eat." He says.
"And I can eat at home." I state in a dull tone. "There's food there."
"But we can grab something on our way back to yours."
"What makes you think I want to be in your presence for any longer than I actually need to be Marcus?" I snapped turning to face him. "I just want you to take me home. I don't even want you talking to me if we're being honest." I say, then facing the front once again.
I could feel his stares on me. Instead of saying anything he chuckles to himself before starting up the car and pulling off from North Middlesex University Hospital. I had a fourteen weeks scan appointment to check the due date of the baby inside of me and a normal check up to make sure everything was going good so far in my pregnancy. Two months ago, I made a vow to myself that I was done entertaining Marcus especially if he wasn't willing to have me alone and even then after everything me and him went through while he was in relationship, I would be afraid to get with him knowing that there is a possibility that he would be cheating on me like that too. I had completely stopped talking to him, the only time I answered his phone calls or text messages is when we both had to attend these antenatal appointments. I've completely stopped texting first, if he wanted know the date of an appointment he would have to reach out to me first. I was done chasing him, if he wanted me Marcus knew how and where to find me.
"You can't keep going on like this you know?."
"Why do you insist on talking to me when I prefer driving back in silence?" I ask.
"How long you going to try and hold this act up for?"
"Can you stop talking to me?" I snapped.
"You being serious?"
"Does it sound like there's any trace of fucking humour in my voice Marcus?" I scolded at him.
"Mind how you're talking." He says. "You back with Jamir?" He took a quick glance over at me.
I sucked my teeth. "Now you're just talking for the sake of it or you're really trying to piss me off." I tell him. "What business do I have with getting back with Jamir? Even if I did it's none of your business, am I asking you if you're back with Zonnique?"
"That ain't the same thing and you now that." I heard him sigh. "I miss you Nahla - I miss us."
"What us? There never was one." Shaking my head, I laughed lightly. "I was just your bitch on the side. That is what you miss. And can you stop?"
"Stop what?" He ask.
"Whatever you're trying to do. It's not going to work, so just stop."
"What, reminding you of how great we was together?"
I shook my head. "You have a girlfriend Marcus."
"Had." He corrected me.
"Still doesn't change anything." I mumbled.
"You still love me?" I didn't reply to his question. I felt his hand rest upon my thigh. "Nahla?" He calls softly.
I felt those stupid butterflies returning.
"You still love me?" He asked again.
"You love Zonnique." I tell him. "Stop trying to pursue something between us."
