She didn't know if anyone in the room had understood their argument, but deep down she didn't want them to.
She would never want Ashraven and Lucine to know that Eria had just bid her one last good-bye. This must have been what Sagira had felt like all those years ago,
Utterly useless...
The only thing that kept from snapping, was Ashraven grabbing her hand and dragging her from her former prison and current tomb of her broken heart.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Mrs. Rominova, you need to run." Ashraven exclaimed in a hushed whisper. The name of the game was stealth; one wrong move, one word in the wrong language, one unnecessary turn and this entire life she'd lived and loved was wasted.
Every turn down the endless labyrinth of darkness made her doubt each step she'd taken. The eerie science only added to the unease in her stomach.
"Ashraven, we're walking in circles." Lucy whispered. "Johanathan's foot steps echoed from the left and then to the right, you've only been going left causing us to travel-"
"I understand, please be quiet. Neither of us want to be killed." Ashraven answered, staring to follow Lucy's instructions.The pair were met with a long corridor.
"Ashraven..." Lucy whispered.
"What is this place?" Ashraven asked, slowly walking further into the corridor. The walls were lined with piles of bodies, many were nothing but skeletons in rags but a shocking amount were covered in burns and moaning in pain. "What sick bastard would do this?"Lucy walked up to one of the bodies and picked up the viles lying next to it.
"Powdered steel and my blood. What in the bloody hell is Marci trying to create?"
"An ancient faction of ultra religious Tumma Fae valued powdered steel over gold. They claimed that it could allow mortals to gain fae abilities temporarily. Some mortals went as far as to have molten steel injected into their bloodstream trying to gain power." Ashraven explained, "maybe Marci is trying to create a fae army from mortal men.""But what does she need my blood for?"
"Selkie blood has more iron and a more efficient form of hemoglobin, maybe she wants to make her army stronger-"
"She wants her army to be able to shift, even if they don't have the ability to. That's the only similarity between these two things." Lucy said dropping the vial, she relished in the sound of the glass shattering.She would murder Marci with her bare hands to save her love from a fait she would never deserve.
Fuck Rakas Nanian, fuck logic, fuck it all, Eria would never deserve it."Lucy, you have got to see this!" Ashraven called, Lucy joined the woman in white and saw a site that made her sick to her stomach. She couldn't decide what was worse, the stench or the site she beheld.
A machine was distilling her blood into two containers, one's contents was injected into a man's bloodstream, the other combined with water before given to another as a drink.
Both died within moments...
What kind of person would do this?
"Ashraven, we need to get the hell out of here." Lucy managed to croak before collapsing.
"Dear god!" Ashraven exclaimed, helping Lucy to her feet. Lucy was pale as a ghost and shivering, "Lucy you're extremely dehydrated." She tried to get Lucy to walk. "We're going to find some water, you're going to be ok..."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many men emerged from the darkness into Marci's throne room. They bowed low before taking a knee and allowing their "sacrificial lamb" to step forward and deliver the news.
"Queen of the Dark Fae, I humble myself before you and beg for you to allow me to live, even as admit my faults done to my higher ups." His shaky breaths were the only thing breaking the awful silence."I find your profession of uselessness satisfying, state your name and rank." Marci responded, rapping her nails against the arm of her throne.
"Dare, first lieutenant of the Plunges Depths." He answered, rising from the ground.
"One of my most loyal soldiers," she drawled with a sly smirk, "state your faults.""My own folly and desire distracted me and caused me to leave my station at the the selkie's cell." He said with too much confidence. "The false leader of the Tumma broke into the cell and allowed the Selkie to escape." Marci used her magic to drag the soldier closer.
"How did you wrong your higher ups?" She said through gritted teeth.
"The false leader used the flame of Rakas Nanian to burn and kill General Rominova, he was also revealed to be Hunter Springfield of New Hampshi-" he was silenced by Marci removing his head.She rose from her throne, letting the man fall to the ground.
"Who knew about this?" Marci bellowed, shaking the paintings on the wall. Nobody dared to rise. "If no one answers, I will drag each and every member of my court and army to beat each of you until you die or confess!"One brave soul stood and walked up to Marci and threw himself at her feet.
"My Queen of Darkness, 'twas I who misled you."
"State your name and rank." Marci demanded.
"Labrano, general of the Land of the Forgotten." He said before she kicked his head away.
"Who the Hell promoted you to General and who the hell allowed you to be in my army?" Marci asked, appalled that one of her former lovers had resurfaced all these years later."I'm unable to remember what happened before the battle against the mortals, all I know is everyone thought I was crazy. No one believed me when I said that Marnnie was a very...vexing creature." The general stated, his sickening grin coupled with the tone he use made Marci gag.
"You're sick!" Marci screamed, slapping him across the face. "You deceived me in order to search for that mortal woman!""Queen of darkness!" Another man yelled, running into the throne room. "The Selkie and the Valo Queen have been spotted running through the distillation center!" All of the men remained kneeling.
"Find them you fools! Find them before my fury finds you families!" Marci yelled before her men scattered, she rubbed the bridge of her nose. "I am surrounded by idiots and perverts."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She ran her hands across the over grown grass in the large field. The Land of the Remembered was more important to the tribe of fae than the ancestral grounds of Northern Sweden, which was why she dared to give them up. If the Tumma from the near by Hella's Plunge set foot on this land, all the souls would be corrupted by their darkness and be raised as shadows of the former selves.
She would protect these souls with her own life.
And one day, her son would rise from his eternal cradle and rule this land too.
