"Wake up, idiots." He hears from the distance. He looks around and sees that Grace is still asleep.
Sorry about this, Grace... He thinks to himself, as he elbows her in her chest.
"Ou - ouch! That hurt!" Grace says as she grabs her stomach.
"Stop being noisy and get out that door! We have another auction today. If I had to guess, there's a high chance you two'll get caught in a bidding war today." A man says as he pushes the two kids through the door. They walk outside to see the usual sight for them. A whole ray of colors coming from the sun. All of which are tints of red, yellow, orange, and cherry.. it's not as impressive as when they first arrived to the desert. When they were first offered the chance to visit Tramslavania, the whole family believed it was a once in a lifetime opportunity... clearly, as they know now, it was a mistake. They were separated from their father, and were now being auctioned as slaves. However, nobody has ever auctioned for them. Today, though, Mike thought something different was going to happen.
"So.. um... are you excited for the auction today..?" Mike whispers to Grace.
"No. Why would I be? Another auction means standing up for hours.." Mike's attempt at starting a conversation was quickly shut down.
"Hey! What are you two idiots doing back there?!" The man asks them, while still following what seems to be a map.
"Umm.. s - sir.. not to be rude, but.. where would our guard be..?" Mike asked the man, in an attempt to stop Grace from scolding the man. The man pauses, then laughs.
"Bahaha! What do you mean? I am your guard for today, so how about you hurry up, or else I lock you two back up!" The man threatens them, as they approach the destination of the auction.
As they neared, Grace attempted to start another conversation.
"So.. do... do you think we'll lose each other next..?" Grace said, in a terrible and miserable tone.
"Well.. at this rate, it seems thats the only option for us..." Mike said, not realizing how blunt it sounded until the words escaped from his mouth.
"I.. I suppose so..." Grace said, starting to tear up as she looked back down to the ground.
"And we're here. Finally.. this map was so confusing..." The man mutters to himself as he starts guiding the kids to the stage.
The stage where they were supposed to stand was right to the sun. It was going to be hard to endure the sun the whole time.
"Alright, take your spots, idiots." The man said, burping mid sentence. Mike and Grace were placed in spot opposite of the stage from one another.
And so, hours upon hours of standing, watching, until finally, it was night time. It was nearly time to go back to their "home." But just before they left, an old man ran up to the stage.
"Sir, sir..! How much is that boy?" The old man asked.
"As much as you make him. It's an auction, you dunce."
"Um.. h - how about 300?" The old man replied.
"Deal. Take him." The old man got Mike off the stage and told him to follow him.
Oh no.. where am I going...? Mike thought to himself as he followed the old man.
