After putting on the show of her life, all Shane wanted to do was call her father and tell him all about it.
Unfortunately for them both, her father was still in the hospital receiving scheduled care. As such, he was unable to make it to Girl Talk's opening show at Battle of the Bands. Though his absence had been on Shane's mind for most of the week, he had been with her in her heart, as he'd promised, the entire time she was on stage.
With the last of their gear piled on the curb by the trailer, Shane stoically waved her friends off from helping her any further. She knew that it wouldn't take her long to stack the last of their equipment and lock up the rear door. It was a task she was more than capable of on her own.
"Go on, I got this," She assured them with a pearly white smile. "I can finish packing up."
Jordan gave her an apprehensive nod, seeming to understand that what Shane was truly looking for was some alone time. She herded Lydia and Vi along with her back into the venue, suggesting that they go get a shot or two to celebrate their big show. The mention of alcohol was enough to lure the guitarists back inside.
Tiredly sighing, Shane resumed loading the trailer, packing in the guitar cases and drums like it was a game of Ultimate Tetris. As she struggled to foresee a place to squeeze in the last case, Jordan's bass case, a friendly yet familiar voice sounded from behind her.
"Need a hand?"
Her head swiveled quickly, catching sight of the brunette masterpiece quickly pacing towards her. Upon realizing that it was Will approaching her, Shane's once inquisitive grimace blossomed into a warm, welcoming smile.
Though she had kicked herself for not getting his number that day in the music store, it appeared as though fate was feeling charitable, presenting her with a second chance.
"Shane?" Will beamed, stopping no more than a foot away, his hands reaching out for the case she was holding. Her heart swelled as she nodded, elated that he had remembered her name. "Holy shit! I thought that was you up there playing. You girls were incredible!"
