No matter what anyone told him, Yoongi wasn't going to stay at that house any longer. It wasn't a matter of if he loved his parents, it was because his house just wasn't a home. Ever since Yoongi was a kid, he's always wanted to live a free, happy life. His parents never approved of his mindset. His father was a business man that was never home and his mother was a very passive lady, agreeing with everything his father tried to push onto him.
The only time Yoongi has ever remembered his mother sticking up for him was when he came out to them as gay when he was in the 8th grade. His father wanted to beat some sense into his only son. His mother always knew that Yoongi's father wasn't a nice man, but he had money, so she settled down with him and had Yoongi.
The next couple of years he was still living with them he basically had to suppress a part of himself around his father. That is, whenever he was home, which was close to never. Over time, the bond with his mother grew closer as she accepted her only son, the way he is.
Yoongi never really had any close friends at school. He was never bullied, he was just always quiet, so nobody really talked to him. Before he knew it, he was a senior in high school and his only real friend was his mother. Most people would think that your mother being your only friend is depressing, but Yoongi found it comforting. Every Saturday they would either go out together or they would have a self care day in the house.
Yoongi truly loved his mother with his whole heart. So when she died in a car crash trying to get to his high school graduation, Yoongi never forgave himself. Of course he knew deep down that it couldn't have possibly been his fault, but it was also a way for him to mourn his mother's and only friend's death.
Her funeral was beautiful, or at least to Yoongi. He thought everything that had to do with his mother was beautiful in one way or another. He had to plan his own mother's funeral because he was the only one that actually cared besides his grandparents, he loved his grandparents with his whole heart. But they lived out of town, only coming maybe once a year. He put frail, purple Orchids all around the building. His mother loved Orchids, she even grew them in their garden. Orchids stand for admiration and innocence, something he always associated with his mother. He always admired her for being able to deal with his unruly father, even if what he thought he was doing was good. He associated innocence with her because their relationship was as innocent as it could be.
Yoongi went into his freshmen year of college without his mother and best friend. He went into his freshmen year of college with no support besides financial, from his father. He never saw his father after his mother's funeral. He would've thought that he was dead if he wasn't sending money monthly. He came out of his freshmen year of college depressed, and still without any close friends.
For the next three years Yoongi had no one to talk to. He was all alone. He called his grandparents every Sunday morning to see how they were doing, but he could never dump his problems on them. So he didn't. Eventually he stopped taking his medicine and just went with the flow. He tried everything, drugs, alcohol, you name it, but he would never self-harm. That was something he promised his mother. So eventually he did some research and found out that having a companion could help with depression, so he went and picked out a cat.
Well actually, the cat picked him out. It was late at night and a wave of depression hit him like a tsunami and he had to get out of the house. He didn't know where he was going, but his feet led him to an open field. He sat under the stars until a stray cat came up to him. It was a cute little cat that wouldn't let him leave without him, so he took it with him.
He later named the cat Jimin.
Well, once again, it was actually the cat. Jimin went out one day and came back with a piece of paper with the name written on it while Yoongi was trying to come up with a name.
The time Yoongi was in college passed by quickly. He spent every night talking to Jimin, telling the cat about how his day went. Some people might think he was crazy for talking to his cat, but that's the only person he could talk to.
Sometimes it felt as if Jimin actually knew what Yoongi was saying. He would bob his head as if he was nodding to what Yoongi was ranting about. He would bring Yoongi banana milk when he had a bad day, it was weird, but Yoongi thought it was normal for his cat to do.
For a tiny 5'4 man, Yoongi had a lot of spunk in him. He would rant up a storm about the rude lower class men being disrespectful, or how his dad never talked to him. Yoongi had this ongoing joke with himself that Jimin was secretly a magic cat that could turn into a human. Jimin was just too smart to be a regular cat, but whenever he would try to talk to Jimin he seemed like a normal cat.
By the end of Yoongi's senior year of college he went no where besides class without Jimin. Everywhere Yoongi was, you be able to see a cute, but somehow threatening cat following him. It didn't help that Jimin was spoiled absolutely rotten either. Yoongi had more money than he knew what to do with, so he spent it all on Jimin.
When Yoongi was at the ripe age of 24 he graduated college with a degree in music. He loved to make songs here and there, he also loved to play instruments. Once he graduated he decided that he would live in his grandparent's old cottage in the forest. He knew how to take care of himself and he wouldn't have to worry about any bills because his father would pay for them if he bothered him enough.
And that's the story of why Min Yoongi was currently moving to the middle of nowhere with no clear plan and nobody but his cat, Jimin.
1105 words- sorry for making the first chapter so long, I just wanted to get his backstory out quickly. Please give me feedback!
Please tell me if the story is confusing at any point, i will try to explain it or change it if need be. <3
