Jeremy Renner is what I imagine Sean's dad looking like
*Liam’s POV*
Sean was tossing and turning, groaning and coughing. I’d only gotten a little bit of sleep but then he’d woken me up. There wasn’t much I could do but lay here and wait for sleep to come again. It was quiet for a while except for the slight creeks of the mattress as Sean kept on turning. The coughing started again, this time louder and more aggravated. I sighed helpless, I wanted to help him of course but I didn’t know how; I mean… Cancer? What can I do for that? I hate that I can’t help; that he doesn’t want me too. I can’t do much but I would help anyway I could if he’d let me.
I jumped when I heard a hard tough hit the floor and then the coughing started again.
“Sean!” I looked over the edge of the bed and saw Sean had fallen off his bed and he was now panting and coughing really hard. jumping over the end of the bed I knelt down beside him.
“Sean!” I tried to help him up but as soon as he was on his feet he fell to the ground again this time coughing up blood which fell onto the floor and splashing the sky blue tiles in front of him with a splatter of crimson spots.
“Shit.” I mumbled and got up running to the door and opening it. “Help!” I looked back at Sean who was still coughing up blood but not as much as the first few times, thank god. “Help! Please!” I screamed a last time before going back to him and kneeling behind him. “It’s going to be fine I promise.” I whispered to him.
“What’s going on?!” A woman asked as she came into the room hectically searching for something before her eyes landed on Sean. “What’s happen?” She rushed next to him.
“He’s sick. He needs a hospital.” I said as another woman came in.
“What’s wrong?” She asked the other.
“He need’s to be taken to a hospital.” She answered and watched as the other woman nodded and left the room, I’m guessing to go call an ambulance. She then turned towards me with a worried expression. “When did this start?”
“Just when I called you. But he’s been coughing all night.” I looked down at Sean, he was laying on his side still coughing up blood; not as much as before it had almost stopped in the little while we’d been waiting for the woman to return. He looks broken, I want to help but, how?
“Okay get him up here.” The voice came from behind me and I turned to see two guys coming into the room bring a gurney with them. I sighed in happiness knowing he’d be okay. After they got him up on the gurney and made sure he was alright they started taking me way. I went to follow but the nurse stopped me.
“You have to say here.” I looked at her confused, not understanding where this was coming from.
“What?”
“You can’t come. I’m sorry Liam.”
“No. No… I hav- I nee-... Please!” She shook her head and looked at me sadly.
“I’m really sorry.” She turned and headed out the door. I was frozen for a few seconds then bolted towards the door, only to have it shut in my face right before I could exit it, I tried opening it but the door had been looked from the outside. I banged on the door as hard as I could.
“Let me out! Please! Let me out! I need to go with him! Please!” I feel against the door banging on it a few more times before finally giving up and falling to my knees against it. “Please.”
*Sean’s POV*
A faint rhythmic beeping came to life as I scrunch my eyes tight, only to open them when I felt a pain in my arm. Blinking the light out of my eyes, looking down towards the pain I saw what looked to be an IV tube, turning to the left I saw a heart monitor; which explained the rhythmic beeping.
“Sean!” I turned my head to the right and saw Jen sitting there grinning like an idiot, with tear streaked cheeks and hope and happiness in her eyes. I smiled back faintly, feeling rather tired and lifeless.
“Hi.” My reply came out as a whisper but she seemed to have heard it anyway because her face brightened and she took my hand in her’s.
“How you feeling big brother?” I chuckled a little but it turned a rough cough. Panic exploded on her face “Are you okay?! I’m sorry! I really shouldn’t hav-”
“Stop.” She took in a quick breath, I could tell she was trying to calm down but it wasn’t working well. “Jen, I’m fine. Just sore.” I smiled but It really didn’t do much to get her to stop panicking.
“Fine?! Sean, you were coughing up blood last night! If Liam hadn’t been in the room…” SHe paused and shook her head. “We don’t know what could have happen.” Her eyes were filled with tears, something I assume hadn’t stopped since I’d gotten here.
“When did I get here?”
“Two nights ago. You’ve been asleep for well almost three days now. Mom was-is going crazy. She couldn’t stand being in the room looking at you like that-this anymore.” I frowned at her. “Do you want me to get her?” I nodded, she smiled shyly and got up I caught her hand right before she could leave the bedside.
“What about Liam? Where is he?” Her small happy smile turned into a sad one and a single tear ran down her cheek before she let go of my hand and went out into the hall. Soon after Laycy came in and sat down where Jenavieve had been sitting before and smiled at me.
“How are you feeling sweetheart?” I smiled back looking down at the IV tube in my harm.
“I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?” Her response was quick but with what she’d been through in the last few days. “Yes. Where’s Liam?”
“Sweetie, I’m sorry.” I frowned at her.
“Why do you guys keep saying that?”
“Honey, they wouldn’t let him come. He isn’t allowed to.”
“What?”
“I’m really sorry.”
“But that’s not fair, I wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for him.”
“I know, I don’t think it’s fair either. I tried to get them to change their minds but they won’t allow it.” I felt a tear fall down my cheek. “Liam was my first friend in, well, ever. Even before dad sent me there I didn’t really have friends.”
“Speaking of your father, I’m not with him anymore.” A felt a small smile climb onto my face.
“Really?” She nodded smiling. “That’s great!”
“Also, I had some papers drawn up and I made him signed them when he signed the divorce. You’re in my legal custody now.” My eyes widen in surprise.
“So that means, no more orphanage?”
“That’s right. Look you should get some sleep the doctor says you’ll be really tired and drained for the next few days.” I nodded and she smiled at me. She was about to get up but then I remembered Liam. I grabbed her hand to stop her and she turned back to me confusion invading her face.
“Can you make sure Liam is okay?” She looked unsure, “Please. Make sure he’s taken care of.” I guess I looked desperate because she smiled faintly and nodded. “Thanks… Mom.” Her smile grew and so did mine before she excited.
