suyin stared at the bright screen in front of her. she froze. and before she knew it tears stained her cheeks.

she locked her phone and put it away. she fell back on her bed and cried. clutching onto her plushies and pillows she silently sobbed.

her cries slowly died down but her heart still sobbed. she cursed herself for liking him too much. she should've known better. after all min was known for breaking hearts.

but did those moments mean nothing? the flowers you have randomly gifted me, the chuckles that left our lips, the hour long talks, the way you looked at me, midnight kisses, everything. they meant nothing? it was too good to be true after all.

suyin's thoughts raced in her mind as she stared at her white ceiling filled with luminescent stars which she has stuck on it as a kid.

the stars, the moon and the night sky provided her a different kind of comfort. she was always fascinated by them. she really loved it all and words weren't enough to express what the night sky meant to her.

and so she knew she had to get out now. suyin glanced at her clock which read 1:27 am. she got up from her bed, grabbed her hoodie and left her room through her window.

this was an old habit of hers. every time she was broken or genuinely extremely happy she had to tell the stars. hence she'd sneak out of her house and walk to the beach which was minutes away from her house. she was glad that people weren't notified of it's existence for it was a hidden place and only she knew the way to the beach.

as soon as she reached her destination she took in a deep breath and sat down on the soft ground. her breath calmed down and soon tranquillity filled the place. she admired this silence accompanied only by the waves crashing the ground.

she looked ahead at the crescent shaped moon courted by the stars in all directions. some of them clustered, some spread far away and some shone and twinkled brighter than the rest.

suyin sighed and took out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from her pockets. she lit up a cigarette and took in small slow draws.

"why is my life so messed up?" she asked herself or rather the stars. she sat there for another hour doing nothing and finally got up to leave home.

she entered her backyard and looked around hoping that no one was watching her and knew of her whereabouts. once the coast was clear she climbed up the tree in her lawn and jumped over on the small roof in front of her window and crawled into her room.

she heaved a sigh of relief as she did always because of the fact that she was not caught. but little did she know, someone observed her all night.

...

"suyin! wait up!" chanmi called out to the said girl and ran to catch up with her pace.

"woah you look like you had no sleep at all. but when have you ever sle-"

"chanmi min broke up with me." suyin cut off her friend in a quiet, sad tone.

"what?!" chanmi yelled in the buzzing hallway and luckily caught no one's attention as everyone were busy in their own conversations.

suyin unlocked her phone and gave it to her friend to let her read the texts while she opened up her locker to take a few books.

chanmi read the texts and looked up at suyin. she hugged her and suyin felt at ease.

"well we all know his deal and i've personally never liked him so i am glad dude!" chanmi spoke breaking the hug.

"hey!" suyin amicably punched her shoulder and broke a small smile. chanmi chuckled while the bell rang so they both walked back to their classroom.

"but for real, are you okay?"

"i guess so." suyin shrugged and soon enough their lessons started.

finally after a lot of 'i hate this subject's and 'how much longer's it was their break for lunch. suyin and chanmi both sat down at their usual spot beside the garden.

"su the transfer boy, he's cute isn't he?" chanmi asked suyin while taking a bite from her sandwich and simultaneously eyeing the boys in front of her.

"there are two of them. which one are you talking about?" suyin looked at the boys in front of her.

"the one who low-key looks like prince eric."

suyin hummed a yes and continued eating and so did chanmi until she spoke again after a few minutes. "so what i was implying on was that you both would look cute together."

suyin paused to look at her friend. "chanmi no. it isn't happening. i can't be over him like that."

"but he definitely seems to be." chanmi said eyes a little wide looking behind suyin. suyin immediately turned back and her heart sank at the sight of min sucking off some random girl's face.

she turned back with a frown. "how could he? how could he move on like nothing happened and nothing mattered?" chanmi could clearly make out that her friend was rather heartbroken. and the more chanmi glared at min, the more she raged.

she mentally plotted something and smirked a little and decided to comfort her friend. "su he was never worth it. i know what he meant for you but you have to let go for the best."
