Chapter 1 : The River's Edge

" And our story begins, I guess, with what the Blossom Triplets did this summer. On the Fourth of July, just after dawn, Jason, Cheryl, and Heavenly Blossom drove out to Sweetwater River for an early morning boat ride. The next thing we know happened for sure is that Dilton Doiley, who was leading Riverdale ' s Boy Scout Troop on a bird watching expedition, came upon Cheryl and Heavenly by the river's edge. Riverdale Police dragged Sweetwater River for Jason's body, but never found it. So a week later, the Blossom family buried an empty casket and Jason's death was ruled an accident, as the story that Cheryl told made the rounds, while Heavenly kept quiet. That Cheryl dropped a glove into the water, and Jason reached down to get it, and accidently tipped the boat, and panicked, and drowned. As for us, we were still talking about the "July Fourth tragedy" On the last day of summer vacation, when a new mystery rolled into town."

A well dressed girl hops out of car, along with her mother and twin brother, and stood in front of a building, The Pembrooke.

"Now brace yourself. The apartment's small, a pied-a-terre, but quality always," Her mother said while her twins spoke her last words also. " Plus, it's the only piece of property in my name and not your father's."

Upon hearing about his father, he rolled his eyes, scoffing quietly. He and his sister shared a look, before following their mother into the building. Once inside, they turned to see a man calling out to their mother.

"Ms. Hermione! Welcome home."

"Smithers! Oh, you are a sight for sore eyes." Hermione Lodge replied as happy as the man was.

"How was the ride," Smithers asked, kindly, as the young teens in the back look curiously around.

"No traffic, thank god," She replied, "Smithers, I'd like to introduce you to my twins, Alec and Veronica." The twins gaze stopped on the man, and offered a smile and a handshake.

"It's a pleasure, miss, mister," He shook hands with the both of them, as their mother smiled at them, replying in unison, "Hi."
As they let eachother hands go, "I'll get the bags."

"Would you?" Alec raised his hand saying, "No, it's fine, I'll get them," with that Alec exits the building.

"Oh, and would you like some menus, ma'am? So you can order in?" Smithers asks, ever so kindly.

"Oh, no. I have been craving one of Pop Tate's chesseburgers since noon. Is his Chock'lit Shoppe still open?" At that Veronica looked confused, as Alec entered with the bags, "What is a Chock'lit Shoppe and why does it sell burgers?." "Burgers, who said burgers?" Veronica and Alec asked in unison.
