IT WAS EARLY MORNING WHEN THEY HAD AWAKENED. the three teenagers, shuichi, maki, and himiko, held hands as they walked into the light together.

which brought them to where they were now. crowded by multiple people on the sidewalk, shielding their eyes from the camera flashes.

"back off if you wanna live!!" maki barked, shoving multiple people back to get space, she almost pushed himiko by accident.

most people didn't listen, and the three stood there until police HAD to show up because of the amount of disturbance. needless to say, the police were surprised to had seen the three alive. they had been brought to the nearest station, and possibly hospital—who knows what all tsumugi did to them.

shuichi was sitting with his two friends when he was informed of his previous name. haruka kazama. that was his real name...? it sounded foreign to him, which made sense, but he wished he'd known of it.

maki's real name had been revealed after, and she almost refused to believe it. masako mochizuki. when she heard her last name, she almost laughed with shuichi at it. it was ironic her last name meant full moon sometimes.

sayuri yoshino was himiko's real name. i guess her last name really did relate to her.

the three stayed in a hotel provided by the police, waiting for their parents to come claim them. did they even want to meet their family— again? how would they feel? would the three ever go by their actual names again?

the three were quiet in their shared hotel room, shuichi sitting on the bed with his knees to his chest. would he be able to find kaito's family and apologize? what about kaede's? miu's? kokichi? the names of his dead 'classmates' were overwhelming his mind with guilt and sadness.

maki was laying next to shuichi, cuddled up next to his thighs. shuichi and himiko were all she had left, whether she had real family or not. could anyone of her family understand her after that? they'd made their daughter out to be a cold killing machine with hidden depths. maki... had never even taken a life, had she?

himiko was buried in her own bed, blankets and pillows all around her for her comfort. she didn't want to be touched by anyone at the moment, except for shuichi and maki. she was curled up in a ball, still crying about the events that had taken place. her feelings were fake? now, everyone knew just how she acted. it was too much for her to comprehend and deal with.

the three jumped when there was a knock on their door, and shuichi just stared. he didn't want to leave them, and he didn't want to meet his family. but he HAD to. what was he like before this? was he at least similar, or was he different?

slowly, he got out of bed—and maki's hold—and opened the door. it was the police officer that told them their names, and shuichi opened the door wider. he told them he needed them to go to the station to meet their families, and so they'd all have the comfort of each other.

now, shuichi was sitting in a chair bouncing his leg continuously out of anxiousness. maki turned to him a bit, grabbing his right hand that was enclosed in a fast and holding it.

with a small smile, she said, "shuichi, it'll be okay. i won't let them take us away from each other. you and himiko are all i have, no one else."

he smiled and huffed a breath, pulling her closer by wrapping an arm around her shoulder. he did the same with himiko, who complied.

"promise we'll stay in touch, maki roll," himiko mumbled gloomily, leaning her head against shuichi's body.

"i refuse to have it any other way," she informed, which relieved both shuichi and himiko.
