The fire was spreading, the neighbors had called the firefighters and the police. I was scared shitless, I was crying so hard that I couldn't even run, my throat was aching from the scream that left it and I clung to my body on the suddenly hot floor. My friends had left me once the fire started. I didn't even think of the consequences for acting, now I knew that I was in deep trouble.

The orange flame was crackling skywards, and the dust embers were landing on those people who dared to go near the heat. Despite being at the far back from the fire, I could feel the heat soaking through my skin. My gaze was fixated on the fire that reflected the rage of its embers on my pupil as a mirror.

I could hear the sirens. I tried to run but I couldn't even move my legs anymore, they were weighed down with fear. I was crouched on the floor holding my legs to myself trying to suppress the scream that was trying to escape my throat. The firefighters were here already. They were putting off the fire and some of them ran inside to check if there was anybody inside. The realization dawned on me that I didn't bother to ask if anybody was inside.

I am stupid. You don't even need to tell me, I already know. Two firefighters came out with a woman who was already as black as coal. There were people in the house, and I didn't even bother finding out. The people who lured me into doing it were nowhere to be found, and I am supposed to face this alone.

The police came after and I froze along with the hot wind. There were chattering and people pointing at me or mentioning my name. The tension in the air was thick enough and I tried buying myself in the ground once the police started approaching me.

I was silently praying to God that someone would distract them, and I'll be given the energy or courage to run away. Thankfully my parents' car immediately swerved into the compound and halted few centimeters away from me but directly in front of the police. My dad was the first person to come out of the car. He was clad in his black suit and his polished shoes my mum's heels was what I saw next.

I could sense her frown from where she was, and I tried as much as possible to bury myself in the ground. My dad still carried his business face as he approached the policemen with pride.

They walked up to the police, and they started talking. I couldn't really pick up what they were saying, but they were on good terms. My parents were smiling at them, and the police were also nodding their heads in what I hoped was agreement. I hoped everything was going alright.

"Ayla" my dad's stern voice called, and I struggled up to my feet, my legs were shaking, and my hands were trembling as I took slow steps towards them. I was told to greet the police and I mustered up the tiny voice inside me and told them hi.

After muttering few things to my parents, they drove their car back out of the compound my parents also leaving me behind. I couldn't even stay in the same car with them, so I walked back to the firefighter's truck. The ambulance had carried the four individuals away and thankfully they were not dead maybe they were close to death but with the way they rushed the bodies away, I had little hope.

How would it sound on the news. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Drayton killed four individuals on an attempt to burn down their house.

Sometimes it pisses me off that my parents are known around the world because of their companies and the billions lurking in their accounts, but I was thankful for their fame since it meant that I wasn't going to prison. Maybe I would be asked to do community service I had no idea, so I headed back home my feet rubbing the cold floor and the wind doing crazy things to my hair.

My mind ran back to my friends who abandoned me and left with my car. If the situation was more serious, they wouldn't have been there to at least encourage me.

I don't mind who the person is, but I've made up my mind not to ever trust anybody because the last person I trusted had put me in the situation I am in now.
