From the corner of my eye, I could see his eyes on me.
"Carter, I see you." I playfully glared at him, "Stop staring at me, dangit."
He quickly looked away from my smile, "I don't know what you're talking about." He attempted not to smile, but he failed.
"Why am I even dating you? You're mean to me." He huffed, smiling at the same time.
"You love me."
"I do." He nodded, looking down.
The door behind me swung open, a group of unknown men piling in, machine guns hooked to their palms. My eyes grew wide, and I hastily moved onto Carter, tears already forming in my eyes. I knew what was bound to happen with this situation.
"Get down!" a deep voice screamed at us, and everyone covered their heads while practically falling to the ground.
"Now, we can all do this the easy way." a man creepily said, "Or the hard way."
Carter grasped my hand tightly.
"We have to run, Em. They'll kill us." He whispered.
"I can't move." I cried, gripping his hand back.
My body was frozen in place and I was holding my breath.
"Give me all the money in the register." One of the men shouted to the woman behind the counter. "Hurry up, damnit!"
The woman began handing him money, while another man shot out the security cameras.
"Now, you're all going to do exactly what I say,"He paced around the floor, "or I'll kill everyone of you. Your choice."
The room falls silent.
"Alright, I want everyone to place their wallets right in front of him and don't say a fucking word."
He pointed his gun at an old man by the door.
"You first."
The man shakily placed his wallet on the floor.
He moved over to a teenage girl wearing lots of jewelry. Her wallet was already put in front of her when he picked it up.
He made his way around the room, gathering all of the wallets. He stopped in front of me and I became sick to my stomach.
I bravely said, "I don't have a wallet, sorry." I shrugged my shoulders and frowned.
The man silently points the gun to Carter, who quickly hands his wallet to the man himself.
"Everyone stay down until the cops get here. Got it?"
Carter attempted to grab my arm before hitting his head on the table above us. One of the men rushed over and yanked Carter off of the ground.
"Shit, I really didn't want to have to kill anyone." A gunshot fired and I lost my breathe. It felt as if the air had been sucked straight out of my lungs and there was no more left to breathe.
I screamed and cried as I watched my boyfriend fall to the floor, a wound left on his stomach and blood rushing out of it.
I began to grip my hair, pulling harder and harder as I took in what I saw.
"Who are you?" I got up off the ground and ran up to the man.
"Who the fuck do you think you are? You think you can just shoot whoever you want and get away with it? You are a sick bastard." I yelled while tears were running down my face.
I yanked the black mask from his face and found his hazel-green eyes.
His face was emotionless.
"Great, another thing I didn't want to do."
He shot the ceiling, making the people scream.
He put his mask back on quickly and said, "We're leaving."
I fell to the floor and was immediately grabbed by the arm tightly.
"And you're coming with me."
