The Outcasts

Chapter 1: Choosing Day

Jade woke up in the orphanage in which no adults are allowed. Adults are not allowed because then they can predict where the children belong. That is not good. Jade had made really good friends that she grew up with. Especially Naomi and Brian. They weren't just her friends, they were her best friends. Brian had thick, brown hair and a light brown skin tone. He was so kind. On the contrary though, Jades hair was black, blue, and purple. And everyone at the home always stared at her. But the creepiest children there were the ones with red hair and red eyes. Like her best friend Naomi. Everything at the home was amazing. Until it wasn't. It was choosing day. And that meant that she would most likely have to leave all of her friends and never see them again! That would be sad. But at least two good and cool things happen today; 1: They get to learn about the floating cities and which ones hold who. And 2: They finally find out where they belong. Jade was excited about that. Anyway, it was time to finally leave the home, but we all need to get dressed first. So Jade went to her closet. Everything in there was all the exact same outfit. "I wonder which one I should wear today?" she said sarcastically. Everyone else in the room laughed because they all agreed. So, Jade put on her black tank-top and black leather jacket. Then, she put on her black leggings. Finally, she brushed her long beautiful hair. This is stressful. Jade thought to herself. But then she also thought to herself: Just cool it Jade, nothing to worry about. Nothing at all. Finally, it was time to go. But instead of going outside, long tubes came through the holes in the roof that had suddenly appeared. They positioned themselves just above each of the children and then, they went up!

 Each of the children was sucked up the tubes, as was Jade. Most of the children let out screams of surprise and joy or fear. It was fun for most kids going up the tubes. Jade was amazed as she came out of the house and saw all of the people, funny, everyone down here looks like Brian. That worried Jade just a little. But, she pumped it out of her mind as she jolted upward and finally started progressing towards the moving cities. Finally, she the tube started slowing down and drooped down to a room where they placed each of the children into little circles. 

Everyone was a little confused but that soon stopped as a three-d screen showed up around each of the kids. It went like this: "Hello, my name is Rachel, and I am here today to explain to you what is going to happen. Each of you will go up the tubes again and move up to the city we use especially for this day. You will be brought into capsules and will be able to see through them, each of the cities will be sitting in their specificated rows all of them will be dressed mainly the same. Finally, we will bring you out one by one to be chosen. Let me remind you what they are: The least powerful city is the city of the pink haired, pink eyed people; their powers are the ability to move things with their minds. Next, we have the second least powerful city in which contains the green haired, green eyed people. Their powers are the abilities to move, grow, and control nature and plants. After them, we have the red haired, red eyed people; their powers are the abilities is fire, they can create and control fire. And next we have the 'averages' as we call them, they either have black, blonde, or brown hair and blue or brown eyes. They are non-magical, worthless, nothing. And next is the purple haired, purple eyed people. They can control and create almost anything and are second most powerful. But, the most powerful is the rarest people there is; the people with black, purple, and blue hair and eyes. They are the most powerful being to ever walk the earth. And they rule our cities with care and love. There are very few and sit in the superior seats that float above all others. And now it is time, good luck." And then her speech ended. By the end of that speech, Jade was extremely hurt as to she called Brian worthless. Jade looked over at Brian and she could visibly see the hurt in his eyes. This was going to be sad.

The tubes once again came and picked up the children, they all seemed quieter this time. And Jade understood why.

Finally, the tubes pulled us them up and into the one person tubes, too bad if you are claustrophobic. Jade thought. And what Jade didn't know is that she is the most valuable person there. It was time to start, here we go. The first name they called was: Peyton Quiness! Jade heard the sound of a tube opening and then, Peyton walk out. The crowd clapped as it was respectful to. They started the choosing. "Greens!" She heard a woman say. "You have a new member of your family!" And then, she heard the Greens welcome Peyton in. Next, the name "Naomi Flogg!" was called. She stepped out of her capsule and everyone clapped again. The Reds welcomed her in and it was time for the next person. After, the name: "Charley Raylinn was called. Jade heard Charley step out of his capsule. "Pinks! Here is your newest member!" They welcomed him in and then, she heard the name that she was fearing; "Brian Ray!" She heard Brian's tube open and instead of clapping, almost everyone laughed! "Averages", the woman scoffed, "Here's another one for your, um, family." She kind of spit out that last word. "And last but not least, I hope, is Jade Relise!" Jade's capsule opened and instead of clapping, the crowd gasped in shock. Then, they all got up and bowed to Jade. And Jade looked at Brian and blew him a kiss. She would miss him. Then, all of the sudden, two people flew down and picked Jade up, they flew Jade up to the floating seats and sat her down in a comfortable throne. This feels weird, Jade thought, but apparently it was to everyone else too. This was the weirdest thing that has ever happened to Jade and as she looked down, she saw Brian smiling up at her. He was happy for her, but she was not happy for him. He was worthless to everyone but Jade Relise and that is sad. But now, it was time to go up to the Purple's city. And the best part, instead of taking tubes like everyone else, the rulers got to fly. There was only one teeny, tiny, problem though, Jade couldn't fly. Lucky for her, they knew that so they just said to her: "Stay in this throne, it will fly you around until you learn how to fly. That's good. Jade thought. And just then, Jade felt a jolt in her throne.It was slowly rising upward. It was flying her to where she hoped she belonged! That was good though.

 It slowly moved her up and up and up until finally she began to pass the purple city and her throne then brought her to the Ruler's city. It was beautiful, everybody was so happy, but she couldn't see any children her age, they were all grown up. Obviously, the person next to her could read her mind and said, "I know, we haven't had a new member in a long time, but now we have you!" And because of the birthmark on your forehead, you must be the queen and king's daughter. So you will mainly learn to rule all of the cities and then, how to use your powers properly, and when to use them. Now, let's bring you up to your home to meet your parents. This was even more exciting! Jade was so happy that this day could finally come, but she was still saddened by Brian. The person next to her said:"You can bring your friend up here when you have mastered your powers and he can become like one of us." And that made Jade's day. And at that moment, she knew that she had to master her powers as fast as she could to save Brian and to bring him up to her. She also knew that this would be no easy task, so she needed to work as hard as possible to ensure he up here as fast as possible. The person next to her only smiled and looked away. Then she said, "Welcome to your new home!" And finally, Jade's throne landed. This was going to be the best day of her life.
