Gasping for breath, I clutched my legs to my body, trying to stop the shaking that had not stopped in hours. Explosions filled my ears and constantly sprayed a new layer of dust over me in my poorly chosen hiding spot. I glanced to my left. A handsome brown-haired guy looked over at me and, through the thick air, I swear I saw him smile. He nodded, motioning forward with his hand. I nodded back in confirmation; it was time. I began to run to where he was. He shouted something inaudible and I threw myself into a barrel roll towards him. Grasping me quickly, He shouted again.
Still unable to hear him, I rushed away from his hiding spot, knowing it was what I had to do. Hiding behind a piece of rubble, I looked back to where Brown-hair was watching. I motioned for him to come. Before he could, a blast erupted from nearby, and everything went black.
I woke up, still gasping for breath. Sighing, I rolled out of bed and rubbed my eyes. Drawing another tick mark on the wall, I tried to make sense of it all.
“24 times…” I mumbled. “24 times he's died...” I placed my hand on the tick marks, his face flashing in my mind. Shutting them quickly, I sighed and pulled my hand away, pressing them against my face before rushing from the room.
Note from the Author: Hello everyone! I'm still working on Waiting for Juliet, so I will post more of that story really soon, but I wanted to also write a story in a more familiar genre, so I hope you enjoy this one. I will hopefully be posting a full length chapter by the end of tomorrow, so stay tuned, I guess. Thanks for reading :)
