CHAPTER ONE.
It’s been a year today since my best friend’s death and my mother’s disappearance. My family has been trying to get me to come outside every weekend since it happened but I just don’t listen.
-------------------------
I had school that day and I hate school. It’s even worse without Hilary. Every day during lunch there are a group of boys that tease me. Every day they say,
“Hey Shayla, how’s Hilary? I bet the coffin is comfortable!” Then they just start cracking up. The people in the cafeteria either laugh along or look at their food uncomfortably. Nobody ever stands up for me. Though this time, lunch was very different. Someone did stand up for me. I think his name is Aston Gabbrio, he is new. Aston stood up and yelled at the group.
“That is enough! She doesn’t deserve this and you need to leave her alone!” His face was red and he looked really upset. He turned to me but I was already out the door and going to History.
I didn’t pay attention in History. I couldn’t stop thinking about how Aston stood up for me. How he had been the first one to ever do that.
After school I was walking out of the building to my car when I turned saw Aston. He was surrounded by the group of guys that were harassing me during lunch. Aston had a black eye and a bloody nose. From the look of him it had been going on for a while.
I have had enough of Brian’s gang’s reign of terror. It was about time that I confront him.
“Brian!” I yelled as I walked over to him. He turned with a smirk on his face.
“Hey Shayla.” He said as he walked over to me.
I didn’t answer him. I went up to him and punch him right in the nose. He swore and then took a swing at me but I dodge it. Then I need him in the place that counts. He grunted and doubled over. His gang ran over to help him. While they were distracted I helped Aston up and helped him into my car. Once he got in he passed out.
I was almost home when he woke to the sound of “I write sins not tragedies” by Panic! At the disco.
“Hey Aston, are you ok?” I asked him quietly
“Ya thank you Shayla. You really saved my but back there.” He gave me a weak smile.
“It’s the least I could do after you stood up for me in the cafeteria. Oh by the way I’m taking to my house because you don’t look to good.” I stared straight ahead as I drove in to my Garage. Once I parked I climbed out and ran over to the passenger side to help Aston out.
I took him inside and found my dad sitting on the sofa facing the TV.
“Who is this?” my dad asked as he turned the TV off and got up. “He looks like crap!”
“Ya I know dad. He stood up for me in the Cafeteria and paid for it after school.”
“Oh, okay. Bring him in here and I’ll have a look at him.” That’s the one thing about my dad. He is a doctor and I knew he could help Aston.
“Oh no, that’s ok. I’m ok.” Aston said. And he did look okay. His black eye was already fading and his nose looked normal and wasn’t bleeding anymore. “I should be getting home anyway.” He turned and walked out the door.
I looked to my dad and then the door. My dad nodded his head and I ran out the door trying to catch up with Aston.
Aston had gotten pretty far before I caught up with him.
“Aston! Wait up!” I yelled.
SOOOOOO...... WHAT DO YOU THINK? SO AGAIN ANY FEEDBACK IS AWESOME. SORRY IT IS SO SHORT. I WILL TRY TO MAKE IT LONGER NEXT TIME.
