Blinding sunshine floods my vision as I wake, I squint at my surroundings. There is hospital beds and machines dotted around a large white room. I realise I am covered with a warm sheet and I am in a plain gown, pulling myself up, a loud beeping started ringing throughout the room, a needle had ripped out of my arm when I sat up. I panic, trying to stop the sound when a few people rush through the door, an older man and two others, a boy and girl, that looked similar to my age. The man turns off the loud machine and mutters to the girl, she rushes off out the room.
The boy just stood in the darkest corner as the man explains to me, "You have suffered large amounts of damage to your left side of your body, and multiple burns, It will take months of recovery, but you should be able to do your daily life just fine. The headmaster will explain more of what has happened to you later, alright? I am Dr Suzuki by the way" He smiles warmly as he finishes. I nod silently and watch him leave.
I end up sitting there in the bed, silent and awkward as the boy stands in the corner, quiet. I could feel his eyes on me, so I looked out the window. It seemed like this was a school of some sorts, a large main square with benches, large willow trees draped over the paths, there was a dome in the distance, It looked completely made of glass and concrete. The campus was dotted with 4-story blocks similar to traditional schools, but they were a dark grey concrete with blue glass windows. It is very beautiful, this place.
The girl from before skips in the room, smiling at me. She was holding clothes, she stops at my side and hands them to me, "Hello! I'm Kumi Fukushima! Your new classmate! The doctor asked me to give you these, I hope they are your size?" I look at her, she was quite pretty, dark blue hair cascading over her shoulders and gold-like eyes. I glance at the boy, he had similar hair but done up, I couldn't see his eyes in the shadows. Then I study the soft fabric clothing, they looked like I could fit them easily, but they were a lavender-purple shade with black. I sigh and nod "It should be fine" I reply quietly.
