Hayley’s POV
Song writing Saturday with Taylor went really well, until something happened. Throughout the week, I’ve been writing down lyrics ideas all in my notebook while in class. Whenever I got inspired to write, I did that. Nobody cared that I did. Nobody even noticed what I did anymore. I wrote down as much as I could think of. And all of my thoughts were about Taylor. Not how I was in love with him, but how much I hated seeing him like this. How every day he looked so miserable, and was never eating. He didn’t deserve any of this.
On Saturday, I heard a knock at my door. I swung the door open, and it wasn’t Taylor. “Why the hell are you doing here?” I asked, trying to shut the door. But Jackson gripped onto the handle, swinging it back open.
“Let us in,” he demanded. Bryce was standing next to him. He had a black eye. “Guess who did this to Bryce.”
I remained silent, hoping they’d go away. “Guess who,” Bryce said. I still didn’t say anything.
“Fucking York did.” Jackson grabbed my hand. My eyes widened, and I began shrieking. Please someone come out of their house, please.
He smirked. “We’re going to show him that you can’t mess with us and think you’ll get away with it.” Bryce stepped closer, and covered my mouth with his dry hands. I thrashed my arms in their eyes, hoping I’d scratch one of their eyes out.
“Speaking of the devil, here he is now.” I looked up and saw Taylor walking up the driveway with his guitar case. He froze, staring at the two guys.
“What the hell,” he said angrily, running up to the doorway. I punched Jackson in the chest, and then did the same to Bryce. They both fell over, muttering swear words under their breath. I grabbed Taylor’s hand and dragged him inside before they got up onto their feet. I slammed the door, locking it tight.
“Hayley,” Taylor said, shaking. “How the hell did they get here? Oh my god, are you okay?” I was shaking. He took my hand, and made me look up into his eyes.
“I don’t know,” I burst out, feeling tears form in my eyes. “I thought they were gonna,” I let my voice trail off. I looked down and saw a gash in my arm. It was streaming blood.
Taylor’s eyes followed mine, and stared right at where the cut was. “I’ll fucking kill them. I can’t believe this.”
I grabbed his hand, dragging him into the kitchen with me. I let the tears fall down on my cheeks, but made sure Taylor didn’t notice. He took a cloth from the counter and began dabbing at the gash. I winced. They got me hard. I didn’t even notice how it even happened. “It’ll leave a scar,” I said, letting my thoughts speak for myself. “And the scar will always remind me of this day.”
I feel safe at school, walking down the road. Not even in my home for gods sakes. I let the cloth drop onto the ground, and covered my face with my hands.
Taylor’s POV
I picked up the cloth and placed it back on the counter. I looked up, seeing Hayley covering her face. A sob escaped from her mouth, and she began sobbing even louder. “I don’t even feel safe in my own home anymore,” she cried. “Is this how it’s supposed to be now?”
