i think her eyes are nice. i still don't know much about her, but i once heard eyes were the keys to an individual's soul. i actually don't know what that is supposed to mean, but i think it has something to do with the type of person someone is by the way their eyes shine. i've been told mine are dull, a lot. that makes sense, i guess. but i wonder if they're any different now that i've noticed y/n. i wonder if they're brighter, like hers. they're nice and kind. and warm.
i think that means she would be a nice and warm person, maybe. i think i'm going to give myself a number of days to work up the courage to talk to her. i at least want to be her friend, and people are always smiling when she's around, so she must be ki—

"TODOROKI," the boy was snapped out of his writing by a harsh push on his shoulder. he immediately brushed an arm over to cover the paper in front of him, turning his head in the classroom to stare at his friends. midoriya was frowning, "are you okay?"
the boy nodded, "i feel fine," he tilted his head at his friends' weird behavior and gazes of concern, "why are you all concerned?"
midoriya's green eyes widened and he lifted a hand, "to—todoroki? didn't you hear about the villain attack in the city?"
todoroki frowned and nodded his head, "yes... what's wrong? did anyone get hurt?"
the green haired teen turned to their other friends. uraraka was staring down at her feet, as was tsu, and iida was looking straight ahead; face tight, frown hard, and jaw clenched to the point his face seemed like it was shaking. midoriya gave them a look and also looked down, "a few people were... well, there was a building destroyed by the villain — it was a flower shop. and—and l/n... she... she—"
"midoriya, are you okay?" todoroki asked, shifting in his seat to stare at the boy who had his face in his hands, his shoulders shaking.
"im sorry, todoroki," his voice was muffled by his hands, "pl-please come to-to me if you want to talk, i'm so sorry," todoroki was going to question what he meant, when midoriya was speeding out of the room, practically crying his eyes out at that point.
"deku!" uraraka ran her fingers through her brown locks, "todoroki, we're sorry. uh, l/n was getting flowers. she was caught in the attack and... she was one of two who..."
wait, what?
todoroki felt like the air was knocked from him. were they saying y/n...? he blinked and sat up straighter, "y/n was... caught in the attack?" he looked down at his paper and then back to his friends, "she... she isn't okay?"
iida cleared his throat, lifting his glasses with a quick sigh, "unfortunately, l/n passed away due to the severity of her injuries, todoroki. we just thought you should know. mr. aizawa only told us because we were seen talking to her a couple times. he assumed we knew her well... but you weren't around when he did."
"and you knew her more than any of us, so we—"
"i didn't." he told them. but, maybe that's why it hurt so much. he gazed down at his paper, "i didn't know her at all. i hope her family is doing well. she seemed like..." he gave up on that thought and turned back to his paper, frowning at the words.
"todoroki? we..." uraraka stopped talking when he turned to face her. she pressed her lips and took tsu's hand, tugging her along and gesturing for iida to follow. "we're going to give you some space and check on deku, okay?"
when they all left the room, todoroki turned back to his paper, staring strangely at the small wet drop over his unfinished word. another drop hit his paper with a small tap and another.
todoroki's frown deepened and he pressed his lips together tightly, vision blurring as his cheek became wet. he silently wiped at his face and closed his notebook.
