familial relations

The Kutsuki family first consisted of Itoh and Hikari Kutsuki. The two owned a cute little bakery called the Raindrop, and spent most, if not all of their time in the commercial kitchen. With two young children - a boy named Daisuke and a girl named Tsubaki - the family of four kept themselves busy, running themselves all over the place in the course of their normal lives.

They had nearly figured out just how everything was supposed to work in their lives before Tomoko joined the little family. The addition was hasty, and the family couldn't have ever seen it coming. They were so... so unprepared, in more ways than one.

Even after six years, Tomoko still felt like she didn't belong.

It wasn't as if she was too strange for the family, or that they didn't accept her. Her aunt and uncle loved her so very much, and that love was palpable, even during the times when the principal of Aldera Middle School called the aunt and uncle telling them that their niece had gotten into a fight. Again.

But she always felt like she was intruding, that she had been forced into a life that no one could accommodate her for. Maybe that's why she tried so hard with everything. She needed to prove to someone, anyone, that she could really and truly help.

When would it ever be enough?

When Tomoko returned home once again from the long day that felt like a whole week had passed by, she couldn't help but feel weighed down by it all. The young fourteen-year-old stood near the front door, keeping a certain mindfulness as she did so. The apartment was no longer dark like when she first came home. The lights were all turned on, and a feeling of warmth filled the space. The kitchen was to her right, bright and cherry as it was decorated with oranges and greys. The same color scheme could be seen through the rest of the home, and pictures of the family hung on almost every wall. To the left was the living room, where she could hear her little cousins playing together and where a hall would lead to the rest of the apartment.

For a moment, Tomoko shrugged off her things and entered into the kitchen, a feeling of motivation filling her that would only last for a moment before disappearing altogether.

At the sound of the apartment door opening and closing, Itoh stood from his chair in the living room and left to greet his niece. He always did his best to make sure that she was welcomed home, and the thought always made Tomoko smile, if only internally.

The man often gave the impression that he was unapproachable. With his ability to easily hoist the gigantic pounds of flour at the bakery and the way his expression always looked so... determined, he definitely could trick someone into thinking that he was scary. Even Izuku, who had known the man for as long as he lived, still thought him to be scary.
