"will you wove taetae fowever and evew?"
that small phrase that came off taehyungs lips was swallowed by the darkness, the boy who he thought was magnificent, but he couldn't be with. he couldn't be with taehyung because of his family. his family would disown him, and he can't. before he can stop them, the words come out.
"I'll always love you taetae," he says, softly, "but if my parents find out, y'know, about us, im gonna get in so much trouble," he adds quickly.
taehyung nods, wiping the stray tears that fell moments before as they sit quietly, unknowing who was going to talk.
"well, kookie n taetae can be together for just'a lil bit right?" taehyung says scooting closer to jungkook, extending his hands and making grabby motions.
"of course taetae. of course," jungkook smiles, taking taehyungs hands softly and looping them around his own neck, letting tae sit in his lap. tae rests his head on jungkooks shoulder, nuzzling into it and clinging to his hoodie that is a little damp from the storm.
jungkook strokes tae's hair, calm and gentle like he's petting a newborn puppy. little taehyung and big taehyung are his favorite people, and no one could replace him in his heart.
but all good things come to an end. all good things do. the least jungkook could do would be to hold on a little longer.
just a little longer bunny, i swear.
then we can be together forever.
###
taehyung woke up lonely the next morning, no jungkook in sight to tell him it's okay, good morning, or how pretty he is. he woke up alone. looking at his phone, he had gotten a text from jungkook that said for him to come downstairs when he wakes up. that he'll be waiting for him.
walking out of that room felt like deja vu. walking down those familiar steps he ran out from just last night.
last night.
the pressure in his head builds, he curses himself as he turns the corner, seeing a lady in a suit talking to jungkooks mother. in her hands is a clipboard with a black pen, as she listens then jots down some words, nodding her head frequently. they notice he's there, and the lady in the clipboard calls to him.
"taehyung! good morning! go get your things i gotta take you somewhere," then she turned her attention back to jungkooks mother, who looked at him with daggers in her eyes. taehyung turned around and walked slowly up the stairs and into the guest bedroom, where he hadn't slept in for around 3 days.
in the far corner, next to the navy blue curtains, the same color curtains he climbed through, were the bags.
the bags of his belongings.
taking the small bag from the corner, taehyung slowly walked out the room and down the stairs into the room, making eye contact with jungkook for just a moment before walking out the door into the daylight.
the expression on jungkooks face was pure worry and yearning. for him to come back, and for him to be in his arms again like he was before.
the boy reminded him of love and patience, and he needed to be reminded again. the slow burn of the ties between them made his heart hurt, and he had to hold back every single word, enduring the questions about how taehyung had been here.
"jungkook, have you seen taehyung cutting himself at all in the time he's been here?" the caseworker questioned, her glasses on the tip of her nose as she played with her pen.
