"C'mon, Pony!" I yelled.

"Alright, Y/n, I'm comin'!" He shouted back. He stumbled out of his room shoving on his sneakers.

He almost fell over and I giggled a bit. He gave me a sarcastic smirk. Pony was my best friend. He didn't know I had a crush on him and I intended to keep it that way. He would never like me back anyways.

"You two better be back by 8:30 'cause we're all headin' to The Dingo later." Darry said.

"You bet. Bye, Dar." I say, grabbing Pony's head and practically dragging him out the door.

"Why do girls like shopping so much anyways?" Pony rolls his eyes as I drop his hand.

"Well... I'm due for some new Chucks... Besides, I get to spend the day with my best friend!" I say giving him a wide smile.

He gave me a small smile in return. We walked for a while but we finally reach Southland Shopping Center. We went straight for shoes. I showed Pony a pair of super tall high heels. They were bright pink. "What about these?" I smirk.

He playfully scoffs. I giggle and put them back. After a few minutes of searching I hear Pony's voice come from another isle. "Hey, Y/n! Check these out!"

I ran to him and saw some gorgeous, saddle, sneakers. They were practically calling my name. They were white and the "saddle" part was black. I couldn't even think about anything but those shoes. "Wow, Pony..." I said.

He handed on to me and I examined it for a good 5 seconds. "How much?" I asked.

"Oh... Don't worry about it." He replied.

"I'm serious, Pony!" I said giving him a stern look.

"$26.87..." Pony said.

"Oh no! I only brought $20!" I groaned.

I began to walk away and Pony grabbed my arm pulling my towards him. "Y/n... I brought $10 just in case..." Pony said.

I gave him a look in awe. That was a lot of money for Pony. He usually only left his house with a 3 dollar bill in his pockets. "But Pony..." I started.

"No, Y/n. I saw how much your face lit up. You mean a lot to me and I want you to have these." He said.

I couldn't manage to speak. I looked at him shocked and he just gave me a side smile. He walked to the check out. By the time he had taken around 6 steps, I ran to him and stopped him. "Pony... That's a lot of money!" I say.

He nodded. "I know?" He smiled.

"How can I make it up to you. Anything, you name it." I smile.

"I'll let you know when we get outside." He smirked a bit.

After we paid, we started walking in silence. We went and got ice cream at a smaller, walk-up, building that I don't even remember the name of. We made some jokes and at around 3:30, we walked around town a bit. We were walking in silence when not only did I realize we were heading home, but I remembered I still owed Pony. When we were about half way to his house, I stopped walking. He turned to me and looked concerned. "What's wrong?" He asked.

"How can I make it up to you?" I ask.

He smirks a bit. "Oh no... It's not bad, is it?" I ask.

He laughs a bit. "No." He replies

I sigh a bit. "So what is it?" I ask.

"We go on a date to The Dingo and then to The Nightly Double, on you." He replies smiling.

My jaw dropped. "A date??" I asked.

"A date." Pony says.

"You know, Y/n. I really like you. And I have for a while. Soda said I should ask you out and this was the perfect time." Pony said.

I could tell he was nervous by the way he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Pony... I've liked you for a while, too. I didn't tell you because I thought it would ruin our friendship." I say.

Pony smiles and we continue walking. I intertwine our fingers and once we get to the gate of Pony's house, he sighs. "Y/n... can I... uh..."

I knew what was coming. I started subtly moves towards him. He did the same. Our faces became close by inches, centimeters, milimeters, and then our lips connected, moving together. They moved in a way that reminded me of calm ocean waves. I put my hands on his shoulders and he rested his hands just above my hips. We kissed for about 3 seconds before we heard a laugh behind us.

"Awww... The best friends fell for each other! How adorable." Soda teased as we turned and saw him and Steve pulling up in Darry's car.

Darry came out from the house. "I'm gonna have to have a talk with you two later..." Darry said.

We knew what it was about and Pony's face bright red. I removed my hands from his shoulders and he moved his hands from my waist. Soda and Steve started snickering.

~Time skip to after dinner with the gang~
Pony and I sat by each other and I was happy. As the gang walked me home, I walked by Pony. I really liked him. "When's the date?" I ask quiet enough for only him to hear.

"Tomorrow." Pony replies. I smile and nod. I see my house 4 houses away. I kissed Pony on the cheek and say, "Bye guys."

I ran to my house. As I did, I heard the boys teasing Pony. "Oooh. Pony's got a girlfriend!" Two says.

"Aw... How cute. Pony and Y/n sittin' in a tree..." Steve said.

Soda and Two replied to Steve, "K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"

"Just don't get her pregnant." I heard Dally say.

"Dally!" Pony and Darry yelled at the same time.

"Not gonna happen!" I yell, still running.

I hear some of the boys snicker.

I went to sleep that night only thinking of Pony.

~Time skip to leaving for your date~
We walked towards The Dingo. I knew Pony may try and make me spend money so after a lot of convincing, I got my parents to give me 7 bucks. We sat in a booth across from each other. We ordered two burgers, fries, and two shakes. As we waited, we played I spy. It was Pony's turn. "I spy with my little eye... A very pretty gal sittin' infront of me." He said blushing.

I smiled and just to tease him I looked behind me. "Her?" I ask, pointing my thumb towards an old lady behind me.

He chuckles lightly. "No, you!" He smiles wide.

Before I could thank him, our food came and we ate it. "How is it?" He asked me.

I nodded because I had my mouth full, causing him to laugh. We finished and in all, I ended up paying $3.02. "Thanks, Y/n." Pony said as we walked out.

"Oh sure. I owe you don't I?" I say smiling.

He smiles back. I payed $0.50 for us to get in. We still had time to get snacks so we each went and got two sodas and two popcorns. I had $3.28 left so I tucked it away. Just before we got to our seats, Pony pulled me close to him. "Y/n... Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked.

I smiled wide. "Of course!"

I gave him a peck on the cheek and we sat down. As the movie started, Pony put his arm around me and I snuggled into his shoulder.

When the movie was over, we threw away our trash and started walking in comfortable silence. We were passing the park when Pony turned to me. "Y/n."

I faced him. "Yes, Ponyboy?"

"I think I love you..." He said blushing nervously.

"I think I love you, too." I smiled.

He pulled me into a kiss, better than the first one. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he hugged my waist. The kiss lasted around 10 seconds. We smiled and kept walking. I did it. I fell in love with my best friend.
