Chapter 2

The ship itself was the size of a large island. It was a type 60 spacecraft, capable of light-speed travel and self-repair. Being a type 60 it's pretty much ancient. The only reason it's even functioning is that someone found it in a scrapyard near my home on Earth 2 and repaired it with some new parts. Now it was just as capable as the latest type 210 spacecraft just not as efficient.

Since, as I said, it was the size of an island, it had hundreds of rooms and mazes of corridors. Some people managed to get lost the first time they boarded the ship and weren't found for days.

One thing you have to look out for in this ship is your tracks. You have to be able to find your way back. Although, it is a hell of a lot easier when the ship's AI, Aura, in this case, helps you. Another thing to look out for is time dilation. You might find that you have only been walking around for an hour in your perspective but in reality, you've been gone for days.

You've literally got to plan the time you explore like a vacation even though you aren't leaving the ship.

Speak of the non-existent devil, I myself was going for a stroll through the corridors when I stumbled across the main control room. A slight mechanical humming was coming from the inside and the handprint panel suddenly lit up. It was like the ship itself was inviting me inside.

I place my hand on the panel and step inside. I could barely see 3 feet in front of me as it was literally pitch black. I try walking forward but I instantly kick my feet against a metal panel. I wince in pain as it shoots through my leg.

"God damn it! Uuuh Aura, you mind turning on the lights?"

"Of course, Jack."

The ominous humming in the room got louder and lights started flickering to life. Soon the room started to give form and revealed it to be bigger than I imagined.

There were dozens of secondary control panels which outlined the room's hexagonal layout. In the centre, there were 6 seats surrounding a central console. Of course, there was a large observation window showing the front of the ship and into outer space.

"This is the main control room. This is where most if not all systems of the ship are controlled." Aura explained

I walk over to the central console and it instantly lit up a hologram with a list of different functions. I scrolled through the seemly endless selection of controls. Ship layout, Stasis tanks, Light Speed Engines, Cloaking mechanisms, Sheilds. Weapons?

Why would this ship even need weapons? It's the end of the universe. Nothing is going to attack us anytime soon. Although considering the dysfunction of the universe it wouldn't be surprising.

Suddenly the entire room itself got darker and the lights in the room started flashing red.

"Uuuuhh, what's happening Aura?" I asked
