The girls entered the office, taking a look around.
Sarah had brought a big packet of crisps with her.Karina switched the light on and locked the door.
"Why are you locking the door?" Asked Sarah, with curiosity."Just for our safety...all the offices in the building are empty at this time, so we are all alone" Karina took the key out of the lock, then she added: "Oh, the photocopier is over there...on the right, I think...Oh, wait a sec...yes, babe?" She answered the phone and headed away, to another area of the office.
The other two girls went where Karina had pointed to and Sarah turned the photocopier on. Maya put her rucksack on the floor and started looking for the paper sheet.
"Mmh...guess it's her dude again" Sarah was talking about the one Karina was speaking to on the phone "every time we're together, Karina gets a call from him" she bit a crisp "can't imagine how stressful it must be...I'm starting to think it might not be so negative to be single forever, ya know?".
Maya smiled and gave her the sheet.
Sarah put it in the photocopier. Meanwhile, Maya had unzipped her jacket and had moved beside her friend.Suddenly, the light went off and the girls found themselves in the dark.
"Oh, that's not good...it seems that the light has gone off"."Nooo waaaay, what about my sheet?"
In that very moment they both got blinded by a cold light.
"It's not the first time..." it was Karina's phone torch "to switch the light on, we need to go to the basement...""Then, let's do it! Take us there!" Encouraged Maya.
"Me? To the basement? You better be kidding! Besides, I don't even know where to go".
"Then let's head back home...we have no choice, afterall".
"Hey, stop, stop, stop, stop! What about my paper sheet?".
"Sarah, you should have thought about it earlier...I'm sorry" Maya said, just like the older sister does with the younger one.
Indeed, it was always like playing the siblings with Sarah...she was stubborn, naïf and sometimes even clumsy and Maya had often helped her out in difficult situations."Oof, alright..." Sarah answered, resigned.
Then she reached out for the packet of crisps she had left on the desk next to her, but she grasped the air.
"Is someone messing with me, by stealing my crisps?"."What?" Maya was already heading towards the door, but she stopped.
"Well, er...nevermind, let's go".
"Oh, the keys! I forgot them in the studio, wait a minute" Karina went to the other area of the office, where she had been earlier and entered one of the private studies.
Meanwhile, Maya leaned her back against the door and stared at Sarah for a while.
"You'd brought a packet of crisps with you?!" She realised only then.Sarah, who was playing on the phone, raised her gaze and fixed it on Maya.
"Yeah...obviously".All of a sudden, Maya moved her gaze to the bottom of the office, behind Sarah, who was standing in front of her, and lit it with her phone.
"What?" Asked Sarah, without taking her eyes off her cell screen.
"I think I've heard something...".
"My friend, now I'll tell you exactly what YOU would have told me, if I had ever said something like that, ahem..." she tried to imitate Maya's voice "please try to be rational, this place is old, surely there are noises everywhere, don't be a kid!" Then she continued playing on the phone.
Maya stared at her, quite surprised.
"Er...girls" Karina's voice was slightly covered by the noise of her heels on the floor, while she was heading towards them "I can't find the keys...".
"What?!"
"You serious?!".
