Ruger stepped outside and looked both ways. It felt as if death loomed in the air since joey was killed. The atmosphere felt thick and tensions where high. As he walked he began to think of the past. The good times. He remembered when the hood was fun. Although in a gang it wasn't always about shootings rivalries and drugs. He remembers how the younger members would go play basketball or even soft ball at the park. When the older members would throw parties they would attend them and feel like adults for the nights. They would hang out on corners and joke around all night making fun of one another. Or when school came around the older members would buy them new brand name clothes and shoes. We felt like the gang genuinely cared for one another. It wasn't how most people portray gangs. It was more of a family. We all shared a bond. We were there to offer shelter and protection for each other. Ina city filled with crime. In a neighborhood full of oppression broken family's and poverty. We felt like we belonged...
