Nikolai Aleksandrovich Romanov, also known as Nicholas II, was born on May 6, 1868. Nicholas II inherited the throne from his father, Alexander III, when he died from kidney disease at age forty-nine.

Nicholas II was unlike his father, he was shy and soft-spoken. He was intelligent, but lacked the confidence needed to be a great czar. When people described the czar they called him likeable and pleasant. Nicholas II had a great love for Russia, his people, and his family. When portrayed in books such as The Romanov Sisters: The Lost Lives of the Daughters of Nicholas and Alexandra by Helen Rappenport, Nicholas II was very kind to everyone, even his captors, and so was his family.

A lot of crazy things happened during the rule of Czar Nicholas II and Czarina Alexandra. Nicholas II was undermined by his wife while he was in power. Alexandra was very outspoken about politics and government and her thoughts had more influence on Nicholas they they should have. After Nicholas II was married to Alexandra and deemed the czar of Russia, Alexandra began to have children hoping to secure the Romanov rule. They had four girls before having the heir to the throne. They had Olga, Tatianna, Maria, and Anastasia before Alexei, the heir. When they finally got Alexei, he ended up being diagnosed with hemophilia, a blood disease. Another thing about Czar Nicholas II's rule is he was not fit to rule and struggled in leading Russia in World War I. After World War I, Russia was very unhappy with Nicholas II and this lead to his abdication and soon after, his assassination along with his family.

Nicholas II was assassinated along with his family on the night of July 16, 1918. They were assassinated by the Bolsheviks after the abdication of Nicholas II because of his poor ruling in World War I. Nicholas died at the age of fifty, one year more than his father's.

Nicholas was a good man, but he was just not fit to rule. He was a good father and taught his children to be kind to everyone, even the people who weren't to them. His wife may have planted political and government ideas in his head, but they were a pretty good pair. They had a beautiful and kind family that, in my mind, did not deserve to die just because Nicholas II was not fit to rule.
