The sound of silence filled my ears as I stared at the man before me. It's been 2 hours since I got carried here, we've talked about a lot of things in those 2 hours.
I asked about him, why was he in the shore, if there was more of him and why he's alone.
"My family was caught by fishermen in their big boats. I never saw them again."
That alone broke my heart, and I hugged him out of nowhere. I considered myself lucky. Lucky that I can still see some reminants of my family. Lucky that I know they're healthy and well.
But him, he said it's been over a decade since he saw them. He never felt their presence again, he just never felt them.
His answer made my rage towards my father lessen by a little bit.
"Can you take me back to the beach?" I asked, fiddling with my soaked clothes.
He smiles and nodded before jumping inside the water then reached a hand for me. I stood up and sat on the rock, little by little lowering myself in the water, then I took his hand.
"I'm sorry for this." I was about to ask what he meant. When out off nowhere he kissed me. I felt my whole being turn flush.
He pulled away and looked at my face with a tint of red on his cheeks. I looked away, trying to avoid his gaze.
"Hold on." He giggled. And hell was he adorable.
He pulled me down the water with him.
I feel different down here. I can breath.I can breath?!
It must've been from that kiss. My dad told me a sailor's tale. They said that when mermaids or mermen kiss you, it gives you the ability to breath underwater.
The memory was a little hazy but it was there. The smiles my father gave were wonderful. Too bad it's in the past.
"Hey, we're here." The man snapped me out of my thoughts. I looked around and we were back at the shore.
It looked to be almost afternoon according to the sun's location.
"Thank you." I smiled, in which he returned back with much sincerity. "Do you, perhaps, have a name?" I asked, head tilted and brushing of the sand in my legs.
The lack of answer from him confirmed that he isn't given one. "No? Would you like one?" I ask again.
His head snapped up and for a moment his eyes seemed to sparkle with joy, but is completely erased when his cheeks flushed.
"I-I, will you? G-Give me one?" He whispers, fiddling with his clawed fingers. "Of course! You're too beautiful not be named." I say through a small giggle.
"A-Ah! You think I'm beautiful?" He says above a small whisper, his were again staring at me, lips slightly parted.
I inched towards him and admired his face, his ocean eyes captivated my whole existence. "Yes, the most beautiful I've ever seen." I speak, my tone was filled with admiration.
His cheeks flushed more and he moved his vision from my face to his hand once again.
"Please, name me." He breaths and I smiled wide.
"Alright! Let me think." I put a finger under my chin, staring at him.
A few moments passed and I finally spoke, "How about Caspian?" I say. He thought for a moment before shaking his head. "No? Uh, Eric?" Again, he gave me a head shake.
Names flew past my lips without thinking. "I've said almost every boy name, why do you not like them?" I huff pouting.
He laughed, "What name do you adore most?" His question made me think.
"Leo. I love the name Leo." I smile.
His next words made my whole being freeze and flustered. "Then please, name me that. Name me Leo."
He grabbed my hands placing his face on my palm looking at me with such a soft expression.
From all the boys I've met, this man has got to be the one that only made me this emotionally disheveled. I stuttered for a moment before clearing my throat.
"I'll name you Leo." My thumb brushed under his eyes and across his cheek.
"I love it." He smiled once again.
Oh, dear Lord. My heart has been smite.
