I knew the secret all too well.
Nikki had told me the story over a kagizillion times.

if a number like that even existed that is.

And maybe that was the reason why i always found myself fighting with Atlantis.
She was my half sister

Frankly calling her my step sister just seemed a little harsh.

I mean it wasnt her fault our dad decided to be a dick one day and went out to fuck a 19 year old virgin.

Ahrrghhh!

Men are such dicks at times.

Anyway,
I was surprised though when gran told Lant about her mother today .
Why would she decide to do that
After so many years today?

Kay took the shock, being young Nikki didnt want him to know and i dared even cough a word about it to him.
He was just a baby anyway.

Then it occured to me...OMG and so was Lant.

I couldnt help but feel guilty as i watched the gruesome sight of Lant as she broke down in gran's room.
She looked at me and i was sure she could sence the worry i had for her.

Poor thing. I was so glad nothing of the sort happened to me when i was 11,
GOD, i wouldnt have been able to handle it.

When she asked me if i already knew, my heart felt extra heavy and ready to have the weights pull me to drown in the Atlantic.

I looked away.
I couldnt face her, not after what i had done to her.

She repeated again, and this time she was agited and angry.
Nikki would have to understand why i did it,
I couldnt lie to her forever.

Plus i felt super guilty about knowing all along....she must have been feeling betrayed.

I sighed before i looked up at her .
She sat up, her back supported by the headboard as she looked at me intently.

I quickly noticed the bags under her tomato red eyes and her dry cracked lips and swollen face.
Or was it the facial expression that made it look swollen,

Whatever!

She just looked bad.
Like terribly bad

, like awful!
You get it!

She just sat there and blinked at me before i sighed and began going over the story i had heard so many times i had come to know it by heart.

Not in an inspirational way weirdos i just memorised it!

Im sorry but yeah.
I knew about your mom, Marina.

Atlantis: How did you know?

Nikki told me.

Atlantis: (shocked) Nikki knows about it!?

Yeah and God help me
How she hated you for it.
She always told me about it and she would show so much hate honestly, i tbought you would be dead by now.

I chuckled at the old memory, recalling to myself her exact words

I hate her!! She's the whole reason our parents are not together anymore!!
It's her!! It's her fault all this is happening!

Atlantis: but why did she hate me?
What did i ever do to her??

Beats me
i shrugged in responce.

Atlantis: i didnt apply to be born you know!

I know and i totally understood.
I didnt hate you,
Infact i loved to make company with you.
I didnt understand what Nikki had against you but i couldnt question her, she'z way older and much more grumpy you get.

Anyway, with the story now........

Long back
Mom met dad at teacher's camp.
And dad fell for mom.
They instantly dated for a few months until dad asked for mom to marry him

Which she agreed to with pleasure.
She was 20 and he was 22 and they were in love, i guess.

After that, a year into their marriage mom had Nikki and she was happy but dad

Not so much.

Told mom he hoped it was a boy. He wanted a son.
So they tried again and then came me.
Dad wasn't pleased about this baby either,
He still wanted a son.

And mom had'nt given him one so he started drinking and abusing mom.
I was young so i didnt really see any of this,

Nikki though, she understood what was going on and saw it all.
Dad even tried to assault Nikki one night when he came home drunk and tried to rape her in a locked bathroom.

That was the night everything went wrong.
Mom broke the door down and dad throwed Nikki away....in the bin.
Like literally trashing her in the dumpster then he stormed off angrily to who knows where.

The next thing we knew, dad had gone to Finland for some sort of work.
He stayed in Helsinki for two years before coming back.

When he did come back though, he had you along with him.
Mom hit the ceiling with rage when she saw the two year old Lantis and screamed at dad for being so careless.
He didn't know that when he left mom was also pregnant.
So mom brought to dad his two year old son
Kay.

And we've lived as one happy family since mom agreed to recognise you as her own and keep the secret along with gran and everything.

Mom and dad ended up divorcing coz they always fought when it came to matters concerning you ..

you know the whole she's your daughter not mine shit.
