Chapter 1

Elena's P.O.V.

I am standing next to the drinks table where I can see everyone in the room, granted the other reason why I'm standing next to the table is because there is a door next to it so I can have a way to get some fresh air away from Damon and his many attempts of leaving here, I know that Esther wants to see me but I wasn't there for that, I was here so I have a chance of watching Elijah, no one knows of my feelings for him, well that's a lie, Caroline and Bonnie knows but I can't lie to my best friends, in fact Caroline is across the room doing the same thing as me, Bonnie who is dancing with Elijah's younger brother Kol because even if Bonnie hasn't said anything but she finds him attractive, she said as such at our sleep over last weekend, I look back at Elijah to see him talking to Caroline's mom, I can see that he was smiling at something that Sheriff Forbes has said, I see Elijah scan the room, look right at me I looked into his eyes for a few seconds but quickly turn away so Elijah doesn't see the blush that was already growing on my face but I can tell that Elijah is smiling in my direction from seeing my reaction, once I know he was back to talking to other people and not looking at me, I turn my head to look at him again, I like how he is so at ease just talking with people and enjoying himself, I smile when I felt a tap on my shoulder, I look next to me and saw Caroline smirking at me, she pointed her head towards Elijah and she said "So when are you going to talk to him Elena?" I sighed, looked back at Elijah to see that he was talking to his little brother Kol and I said "I just don't know what to say Care, whenever I try to talk to him when he welcomed me in with his mother by his side, I just couldn't find any words besides 'Thank you for inviting me', I also been gathering my courage to even speak to him" I hear someone giggle on the other side of me, I turned my head and saw Bonnie, she said "Start by saying how amazing this is, I did with Finn, after that we just talked about whatever we thought of" I sighed and said "I doubt that will work for me, I just lose any function in my brain when it comes to Elijah" Caroline and Bonnie giggled, Caroline stood in front of me and said "Why don't the three of us go outside for some fresh air and have a girly chat" me and Bonnie nodded our heads, followed Caroline outside of the door next to the table, walked outside, walked some distance from the mansion, sat down on this bench that curves slightly, Bonnie sighed and she said "This place is amazing, I can feel everything around us" I giggle and said "It is beautiful, I wonder who's idea was this, the flowers are beautiful, the fountain is just pure amazing and not to mention I can tell this is supposed to be for relaxing" Caroline leaned her head back and she said "I can tell, I just feel like I want to stay here and let the world fly by and not to have to worry about anything" I leaned back, looked up at the sky to see a lot of stars are out in the night sky, I smile slightly and said "What do you feel so far about the ball Caroline and Bonnie?" I put my head back right, looked at Caroline and Bonnie when Caroline said "It has been interesting, I thought it was just a ploy but I have really enjoyed myself, plus I was looking at Klaus nearly all night" Bonnie sighed and said "I was mostly talking and dancing with Kol, he may be quite the charmer but when he doesn't try and flirt he is great to be around" Caroline and I giggle when Caroline looked at me and said "What about you 'Lena?" I smile and said "I have mostly been looking at Elijah from the moment I stepped foot into the mansion, plus getting away from Damon and his many attempts at getting me to leave".

Caroline groaned and said "I told Damon to leave you alone, I guess he didn't listen to me" I sighed and said "Don't worry, I told him somethings that he didn't like and now he is moping inside with a glass of whisky, I just left him to it and came out here to get rid of my headache that he caused" Caroline and I looked at Bonnie to see what she is going to say but instead of talking we saw that she was in some sort of trance, me and Caroline looked at each other, went closer to Bonnie and for the next ten minutes we just waited until Bonnie snaps out of it, after a few seconds Bonnie came out of whatever trance she was in, she shook her head and Caroline said "Bonnie why were you in a trance?" Bonnie sighed and said "My ancestor just told me that something is going to be happen in a short while and I don't have time to tell you but she said not to worry because she will tell us when we do something" I furrowed my eye brows in confusion and said "What does that even mean?" Bonnie shrugged her shoulders and said "I have no idea Elena, all she said was that we will know when time freeze's, I am still confused about that" Caroline groaned and said "Couldn't we have one night to feel like princess's, why does it have to be ruined by something or other" I giggle and said "We are part of the supernatural world Care, hell I am right there with you" Bonnie was about to say something when we heard someone talking, I looked between Caroline and Bonnie, stood up from the bench walked back towards the mansion, climbed the very few stairs that was there when we saw Stefan and Damon arguing, I shake my head, headed to the door, opened it and walked through it along with Caroline and Bonnie, we went back to our original spots before we went outside when Damon stood in front of the three of us, he glared at us and said "Where did you three go?" me, Caroline and Bonnie folded our arms, Caroline stood up straight and she said "We went outside for a bit to get some fresh air" Damon growled and said "How many times do I have to say this, if you go anywhere tell me and I will go with you" I scoff and said "That's why we didn't tell you, we went outside to get away from you and to have some fresh air, plus for some girl talk which means, boys aren't aloud" Damon glared at me and he said "I don't care, I am supposed to be protecting you three from doing anything stupid and going off by yourselves doesn't help" Bonnie glared at Damon and said "We don't need protecting Damon, if we want to go outside we can and you can't stop us" Stefan stepped in the middle of us and said "OK I know you four will continue to argue but now is not the time and certainly not the place" Damon sighed and said "Stefan's right, let's go home and then we can talk about this there" me, Caroline and Bonnie shook our heads and said "No" Damon stepped towards us but Stefan stopped him, I looked at Bonnie and Caroline to see if they wanted to get away from Damon, they nodded their heads, we walked away from him to the other side of the ballroom and sat down on the table that was free to relax, we were talking until Finn came up to me and said "Miss Gilbert my mother is waiting for you" I nod my head, stood up but before we even got ten feet away from the table everyone froze, I looked round me and everyone is frozen, I saw that in the mist of everyone Stefan is looking very confused but when he saw me he started to make his way over, while he was making his way over I turned back to the table to see Caroline and Bonnie are still moving, I walked over to them and said "What is going on? Why is everyone frozen?" Stefan made it to the three of us while Bonnie and Caroline stood up next to me, Stefan looked at the three of us and said "OK what the hell is going on?, one minute I'm talking to Rebekah then the next thing I know everyone is frozen except you three" Bonnie said "I guess this is what my ancestor meant when she said time will freeze" Stefan rubbed his eyes and said "What are you talking about Bonnie?" Bonnie looked at Stefan and said "When me, Caroline and Elena went out into the gardens to have some fresh air my ancestor contacted me saying that we will be needed for something but we won't find out until time freezes, I don't know what she is trying to do but we will find out shortly" I sighed and said "What else did she say?" Bonnie shrugged her shoulders and said "All she said was be prepared and not to freak out" before any of us could speak a bright light flashed around us, and the next thing we knew we were tumbling to the floor on our backs.
