I study the big, bold letters for a while. "Pshhtt, Alex, don't be silly. This is just another one of those middle school pranks. You don't actually believe this?"

"You never know, Danielle. You never know."

I roll my eyes at her and start the car. This is just another one of those impractical jokes. She can't be serious, can she? I mean why would anyone even be out to get me? But then other thoughts started to fill my head. What if this note was real? What if someone was really out to get me? I almost immediately slap myself for thinking those thoughts because they were so ridiculous. I decide to shake the whole note thing off and continue with my day as if nothing happened.

The whole ride is mostly quiet except for the occasional side comments from Alex about the pictures she sees on Instagram. They usually are "OMG, what is she wearing?" or "Ughh this is so cute, I want it." Nothing really interesting.

We finally arrive at school. Alex and I step out of the car and go our own ways. Alex obviously runs to her friends to share their gossip and I start to head over to my locker.

I am stopped by, "Hey Danielle!!"

I turn around to see my best friend since first grade sprinting to catch up with me. "Hey Carter! What's up?"

"Oh nothing much, you know the usual. Nothing interesting ever really happens," he says panting for breath. "Hey look, there's Liz! Hey Liz!" He starts waving like a maniac. Liz finally notices and starts walking over to us.

"Hey Danielle, hey Carter!"

"'Sup Liz!" I say looking at my watch. "Look I have to go to my locker, I'll catch up with you guys later!" As I walk away, I hear them yelling things like "See you later, Alligator" or "In a while, Crocodile." I shake my head. I have the weirdest friends, I think to myself.

When I get to my locker, I do the normal thing. Put in my code, get my books out, and head to class, but when I open my locker, a black envelope falls out on me. I open it and, again, in those same bold, red letters, it says: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
