I immediately lurch up and begin to scan my arms and legs for scars. My eyes instantly go to the injury in my leg but nothing was there. I looked as normal as ever.
My head, however, throbs and I feel nauseous. I feel sick to my stomach and I feel like disappearing to somewhere else. I feel sore, as if I just ran a marathon, and my throat is completely dry.
Then, I realize, later than I should've, that I'm in the nurse's office. Alone. I look around but no one is there. Not even Ms. Lillian, the school nurse, who should be sitting at her wooden desk in the corner.
Just as that thought crossed my mind, Ms. Lillian enters the room. "Oh dear, you're awake. Good. How do you feel?"
"Honestly, I feel sick to my stomach. What am I doing here anyway," I ask confused.
"You don't remember? You were in class and all of a sudden you passed out. You took quite a fall," she explains.
"How long have I been out?" I ask. My mind immediately hops to the last moment I remember. I was writing a note to Carter. "And where is Carter?"
"3 hours. I was concerned so I was just about to call your parents when you woke up. Carter is in class, honey, school is still in session. He did come in and check on you a couple of times, though."
Just as she said that, Carter came bursting in the room, an expression of worry on his face. Ms. Lillian smirks at me, "Oh look, here he is now."
"Danielle, you're awake!" He exclaims running towards me. "How are you feeling? I was so scared when you fell you have no idea," he says, his sea blue eyes filled with concern.
"I'm fine, Carter. Just a little sick," I say hesitantly. "Aren't you supposed to be in class or something?"
"Yeah, but, you know I was worried about you. You fell all of a sudden and went unconscious. Anybody would be."
I smile at him. It was nice to have someone who was concerned about you. "Thanks, Carter. So now that you know I'm fine, you should go back to class and stop worrying."
"Are you sure you don't want me to drive you home?" He asks.
I nod and he raises an eyebrow at me. I nod my head towards the door, telling him to leave. He looks at me hesitantly, then leaves.
Ms. Lillian walks up to me. "So, sweetie, do you want me to call your parents to pick you up?" she asks.
I think about it for a minute. My parents would freak if they found out about this. "No, thank you. I'll be fine. Can I rest in here a little longer."
"Sure," she smiles.
Out of no where, the loudspeaker goes off. "Ms. Lillian we need you in room 107, someone just threw up."
She looks at me. "Well, I'll be right back. Will you be fine in here for a little while?"
I nod and she leaves the room swiftly with gloves and paper bags. I look around the nurse's office and see all the medicine and regular nursing stuff.
My eyes wander towards the window. All of sudden, I see a shadow. I get up off the bed to get a closer look. A figure pops up in front of me. It's face is all covered except for the eyes.
I find myself looking at the same, menacing, green eyes of the person from my dream.
