A/N : This is a chapter I want to write to give Dapper more depth so he's not a cold-blooded villain with no past. Gotta have that depressing backstory!

---

(Somewhere in the town)

Dapper sat atop a roof, humming as he looked over the streets. Something tugged at him but he shook it off, knowing it was just a voice to tell him something he already knew. Artist had gone and found Koningin, who would make the decision to call off his orders. It was bright as day to see. Koningin never agreed with what Dapper did. Not to mention how she hated Rabbit. He closed his eyes, getting up. He began to quietly sing a familiar song. He didn't know why it did this but everytime he sang sang this song fuzzy memories filled his head.

(He is singing the song above, Once Upon a December)

*Flashback*

A young Dapper, maybe 6 or 7, sat in a room that looked like a nursery. He was playing with a stuffed bear and bird. He looked so inoccent, nothing like we see today. A lady, maybe in her twenties, stood in the doorway smiling at the boy.

"C'mon" she said after a few minutes, "Time for bed now."

Dapper turned pouting, "But- I'm not tired!" He exclaimed as the lady came and picked him up, hoisting him into her arms.

"You need to go to bed, tired or not." She replied as they exited the room.

He laid in his bed for a few moments as the lady exited his bedroom. She paused before turning back and sitting on the edge of his bed. She began singing a soft lullaby. Once Dapper was asleep she finally closed the door.

---
(Different memory)

Dapper was now older, around 10 or 11. He was wearing a suit and a bowtie, looking very fancy (like he does today). The lady was wearing a ball gown, her hair in a bun decorated with pearls. As they walked into a huge ball room the music started. Dapper sat to the side as she went off to dance.

---

A few hours passed before Dapper was told he could go to bed as the ball was going to conclude soon. He walked out of the ball room and off to his bed, more tired than ever. The boy was only in bed for a little while before two gunshots could be heard. The next thing he knew was he was running into the ball room, the sight of two dead bodies (one being the lady from before) in front of him. He was shocked before black clouded his vision.

(Last memory)

Dapper was still around 10 or 11, but instead of being in the nice home he was before he was on the streets. It was dark and raining, every one who passed him ignored him. The familliar sound of hooves against the road kept him awake. He didn't remember how he had gotten here exactly, all he knew was he was being yelled at then he was out the door as it locked behind him. What had he done? A man in shadows approached him, his face carefully hidden.

"You look alone." The man said

Dapper shivered, something about his presence was unerving, "Yeah and?" He replied.

"You look in need of a hand. How old could you be? 10? 11? You shouldn't be in a place like this." The man held out his hand to help the boy. As soon as he touched his hand Dapper felt a jolt in his brain. "Now tell me, what's your name boy?"

What was his name? He didn't actually know. He looked down at his tattered suit, the same one from the night of the ball. "Dapper" he blurted.

"Dapper. That's a nice name. Come now and let's get you fixed up. I'll show you a better life than this." The man then led Dapper away.

(End of memories)

Dapper snapped back into the real world. That was where it all began. What had he done? He didn't know, but it led him to the life he has now. He sighed, taking out a few cards to get ready for a normal day. His mind rested on that woman. Who was she?
