"Well, that failed."
You said as you woke up in a hospital after one of your.. failed attempts. The sad part was as much as it was such a brilliant plan, it didn't do much to you. Well, you assumed it didn't since you have your eyes wide open now. The door bursted open, revealing one of your long time friends, Haru Kato. And oh look, the usual scolding look in his eyes were there.
"Fancy seeing you here, Kato," you greeted him with a smile, all uncaring as if you didn't even attempt to end your own life just awhile ago. Walking closer to you, you grew slightly wary as to what he was gonna do with such close proximity.
"A-Ah- Ouch..!" You whined in pain as his fingers moved to pinch your cheeks. "Y/n, remember, you are in the Investigation Division 1. So please.. act like it," he said eyebrows furrowed in concern as he began to nag at you. You just looked at him before sighing once you removed the clutches he had on your cheeks. "You're mistaken. I'm part of the MPCTF now. Gosh, what a mouthful," you humoured, and you saw his eyes widen as he heard those words coming out of your mouth.
"What.. happened?" He inquired, quite confused why someone as brilliant as you would even try to leave the 1st division. "The criminal that I've captured.. well, I might have used unconventional methods just to make him speak. It worked, but I got scolded by the higher ups so here I am," you shrugged, seemingly uncaring as you told him your little story. He just shook his head at you before massaging the bridge of his nose, "Why am I not surprised?"
"We've been friends for a while, that's one of the reasons I guess. You do know how my mind works a lil' bit," you answered his rhetorical question. As you tried to stand up, his actions in trying to keep you on the hospital's bed were immediate. "H-hey, what are you doing now?!"
"Hm? It's my first day on my new job. I wouldn't want to be late, wouldn't I?" You let out a soft laugh as you removed all the machineries stuck on your body. "Are you sure you're even well enough to stand up now? What if your body's condition isn't stable yet?!"
Your eyes met and silence grew. "Please don't underestimate me. Come, Kato. I must let the nurses know that I'm up and about now," flashing a smile at him, you were the first to go.
Hand clutching his chest, he felt his heart beating quite faster than he anticipated. Whether it was because of him worrying for you or.. something else, he just sighed for the nth time before following suit.
Why did he have to fall for someone as reckless as you?
