"Gah, I feel like I'm betraying Kato by being with you."

Was what you said, yet your action of bingeing on the noodles brought to your table was contradicting your previously-made declaration.

Mita was on the other table, eating by himself. And even if he was alone, he was content with the meal served to him by the chef. Who wouldn't? Food tasted better when it's free, after all.

"Just eat," Kambe said, and you wouldn't mind doing that anywise. Once you finished swallowing, your lips parted to say, "Kambe," you uttered his name. He paused from eating before meeting your eyes, humming afterwards to show his response.

"Yes?" He inquired.

"I feel like this is the perfect time to say this, especially since Kato isn't around." This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, wherein Kato wouldn't smack the back of your head because you said something against his standards. You needed to make great use of this chance given to you because you wouldn't know when your next shot would come.

"A long time ago, I have been hit with the realization that dying alone was so passe," you paused before standing on your feet, now walking towards him, latterly tilting his chin upwards using both your index finger and your thumb.

"It just feels so empty to say good riddance to this world all by my lonesome so..." You leaned in closer, causing Kambe's breath to hitch, though this reaction of his was unnoticeable.

"I'm currently on the lookout for a handsome man or a beautiful woman who'll die with me!" You finished, purely enthusiastic about the whole idea. Fixating on people who were on the other side of the gender criteria was too boring, you noted. And with girls now added on your list to hunt, the possibilities were now endless.

Fingers that were once propping his chin up had now morphed into your whole palm cupping one of his cheeks. "So will you, Kambe, join me on my-"

Ring ring

"Why now?" Now feeling dejected, you extricated your phone that was inside the pockets of your trenchcoat before looking at the ID of the caller. Swiping to the left to answer the call, "Haru, why do you have to be such a huge cockblocker?" You asked with a bark before excusing yourself, soon leaving the area to search for your own privacy during this call.

Kambe's kens flickered upon Mita whose phone was on his hands. He narrowed his eyes at the male who just whistled to act like he had nothing to do with Haru interrupting your moment with him.

Beyond everything, Mita was just doing his best as his friend's wingman.

Kambe just decided to just leave things be and lay await for your return. What he noticed was that the sensation of your hand coming into contact with his skin hadn't ceased.

And in his mind, he didn't want to say it, but he was now starting to long for his instructor to touch him more than they already had.

.

.

The following day, you, at present, were seated just on the left of Kato. After apologizing for ditching him, you swore on your friendship that you wouldn't leave him in the future just because of some costless grub.

Presently, you two were at the parking lot, when you choked on your own spit because of what you saw. "T-that was the woman that we saw the other day!" You pointed towards the girl who had just entered her car before driving away.

Haru needed no more words because he accelerated to trail after that woman who was connected to the case your department was currently solving.

At some time in the future, it had reached night time. Haru stepped on the brakes to stop his automobile from advancing any further.

What laid before you was a huge building that was a hundred times bigger than the apartment you were currently staying at. "What is this establishment? A club?" Haru asked, eyes stuck on the large structure brimming with incandescence.

"I hope that it's the latter. It's been a long time since I had some form of excitement in my life," you let out a breath of exasperation, denouncing yourself for living such a boring life when you could be on a search right now to find the right person for you.

Instead of greeting the pain on your head that you were quite used to, you were surprised that Kato had chosen to flick you on the forehead. Had he grown fonder of you these past few days to realize that you weren't a masochist to yearn for pain every time you said something wrong?

The opposite of a jalopy had whirred past you two, with it now stopping, straight of revealing who the owner of it was when he exited the vehicle.

"Kambe?"

"You? What are you doing here?" Both you and Haru said simultaneously. "I should be the one to ask," his pointed look at Haru turned softer when it fluttered at you.

Kambe took the lead, and you two took that as the sign to follow after him.

"I wouldn't even be surprised if this is his home," you voiced once you trio had entered. "Still? Isn't this a bit of an overkill? I think it's a fancy member-exclusive restaurant," Haru digressed.

"Are you hungry?" The onyx-haired male asked, and Haru just inherently denied, finding the idea of someone like Kambe feeding him food revolting enough for him to turn it down.

Deciding to barge in on the conversation, you said, "He may be not, but I'm hungry for someone like yo-"

Thwack

As soon as the lady was finished fixing whatever it was that was under that armored car, your jaws literally went unhinged when you saw the familiar place.

When she had arrived at the second floor of this domicile, you didn't squander and straightaway knelt on one knee. You enclasped her hands using yours and smiled as seductively as you could hoping that this time, nothing would come in your way.

"You're a lady as ephemeral and elegant as a lotus blossom. Would you be willing to join me in a double suicide-"

You choked when Haru began to pull the back of your collar towards him, the force making the front part of the article of clothing restricting your ability to breathe. Now that you thought about it, dying by the hands of Haru did seem nice, but not as gracious as you ending your life yourself.

"I apologize for her rudeness," Haru bowed while you stayed limp, welcoming death with open arms if Haru did end up killing you.

Unfortunately, he didn't.

Thenceforth, formalities were exchanged, with you glancing at Suzue with the condition that Haru wasn't keeping you under surveillance. Which was hard.

.

.

"I'll be doing things my way," Haru started to walk away. Your head kept on moving sideways, still unsure as to whether which side should you pick; the Kambe's or Haru's? You did promise him that you would assist him in any way that you could... But passing up this good fortune in which you could spend time with Suzue and Kambe left a bad taste in your mouth.

Gulping, you willed yourself to trail after your friend, because as the saying goes, 'Bros before hoes.'

Someone's hand taking a hold of your wrist kept you from completely strutting away, and after turning your head to see who it was, you saw the look in Kambe's eyes. He was persuading you to choose him in his own way.

"Stay," Kambe implored.

And just as when you thought things were at a standstill, Kato did the same thing as Kambe.

"She'll be going with me," Haru declared.
