Hyric's eyes show no emotion as he looks down at his two daughters, Risko and Zuka. They squirm together, bundles of wet fur desperate to nurse for the first and last time of their lives.

In all honesty, he doesn't care what happens to them. They were just another obstacle getting in the way of his journey. Now he's finally fulfilled his duty to Vast. Now he can leave with his ancestors blessings.

Not that traditions really matter to him, but I guess there's something rewarding in following the rules.

"Do you have anything you want to tell your kits when they're older? Aynam told me in advance that she doesn't care." Finya, the oldest Watcher, is required to help with all of the Kittings, along with asking the necessary questions. Hyric already knows what he wants to say.

"Make sure that they know they should always follow the sun, as it's the only thing they can truly rely on in their lives." He's lived by this since kithood, so why not spread it to his daughters? After all, he doesn't wish them any harm. He just doesn't want to be stalled by their existence.

"Oh, and let Aynam know she was the worst Partner I could have ever gotten, and if she follows me, she'll regret it." Finya doesn't look fazed by his threat, fixing him with a hard stare instead. The tom dips his head in a simple goodbye.

Traditionally, he would wait until morning and then leave. He doesn't really feel like doing that, though. After all, he can already taste the ocean on his tongue, feel the wind on his pelt, imagine the grass brushing gently against his paws.

Hyric has waited for too long. Now it's time to act.
