Cassidy pouted slightly as she made her way down the halls without Warren. This year, however, their schedule had been largely separated, resulting in each of them being in classes on complete opposite ends of the school.

When they learned of their separate class schedule, Warren had stubbornly insisted on walking Cassidy to her classes due to a particular Freshman. Despite not being acquainted with the Stronghold, they naturally preferred to steer clear of him, especially Cassidy.

Unsurprisingly, the Pyro did not have the chance to argue with Cassidy, and their current situation was the direct result of that.

Leaving her first class, Cassidy's nerves were on edge with every passing second. She least expected to be approached by some upperclassmen and was especially surprised to see the Student Council President and Cheer Squad Captain, Gwen Grayson and Penny Lent, with Flash and Speed trailing shortly behind them. However, both Flash and Speed were preoccupied with tormenting a few younger students at their lockers.

Gwen Grayson flashed a sweet smile at Cassidy and greeted her, "Hello, Cassidy."

Cassidy nodded and mumbled a shy response to Gwen. Given their limited previous interactions—mainly a brief conversation during her Freshman year when she had gotten lost—the exchange seemed strange. The only words they had ever shared were 'Welcome to Sky High' and 'My name is Gwen Grayson.' It appeared that something was on the Student Council President's mind this time.

For the remainder of the previous year, they had not crossed paths or shared any common areas. During lunchtime, they had sat at tables that were far apart, and there was never an attempt to initiate an interaction between them.

Cassidy stood frozen in place, feeling the weight of the Head Cheerleader's gaze on her. Words failed her as she lacked the courage to speak her mind. She decided to remain silent, letting the situation unfold without further intervention.

Gwen chuckled and placed a hand on Cassidy's shoulder, patting her gently. "If you ever need any advice, just come to me," she said with a friendly smile, then nodded and walked away, leaving the younger girl behind. The entire exchange had been strange and left Cassidy feeling a mixture of confusion and uncertainty.

After hearing Gwen's words, Cassidy couldn't shake off the feeling that something was amiss. However, she chose not to dwell on it and pushed the thoughts aside, proceeding to her next class.

The odd encounters continued as she found herself in a class with Penny Lent this time. The previously silent female was now talking incessantly, making Cassidy increasingly aware that something was amiss. It seemed strange that the Cheer Captain was suddenly acting so friendly towards her.

After class ended, Penny went out of her way to suggest that Cassidy try out for the cheerleading squad. Hesitantly, Cassidy declined the offer. Surprisingly, the Cheerleader accepted her refusal without argument, which further fueled Cassidy's sense of unease.

Surprisingly, instead of insisting on the cheerleading squad, Penny proposed the Student Council as an alternative option. This time, Cassidy didn't immediately reject the idea, as it appeared more suitable to her interests and would certainly be a valuable addition to her school record.

However, she wanted to give the idea some more consideration and discuss it with Warren. She figured he might have some insight on the strange encounters, and it wouldn't hurt to have a second opinion on the matter.
