The girl stood at the top of the tower
Oblivious of the pouring shower
Her eyes on the four leaved clover
For it would bring her into luck's bower
She clambered down to the ladder's foot
The four-leaved clover to plunder and loot
Suddenly a lad cried; O lass so fine
This four leaved clover is mine
No laddie; she cried; it was I
Who sighted it first;Hand it over without a hue or cry
Oh lassie! he chuckled; I'll tear it apart
And give it to you with all my heart
Nay,she said; I want it whole
Hook and sinker;line and soul
And so;they went on and on
Tugging the clover's leaves; like a prawn
Till the lucky clover broke
Into pieces,O; what a joke!
So, if you want lady luck on your side
You must'nt fight for your pride
Or you'll end up with nothing over
Like the lass and the laddie; with the four-leaved clover.
