"Knowing you're being unreasonable doesn't mean you can stop yourself from being unreasonable." He said in a matter of fact tone.
She frowned, and pounded her fists lightly at the mirror in front of her.
"I..know." She groaned as more tears escaped, rolling down smudged cheeks.
"Megami...you may have given me the title of immortality, but you're simply a mortal yourself. Why must you waste your short life believing the lies you've fabricated about yourself?"
She remained quiet for a while, before she fell into a pathetic heap on the floor, helplessly staring into his amber eyes.
He sighed, before sitting next to her.
"But I...can't help you." He held her hands in his pale, veined ones and lightly held her silently shaking form.
After a while, he stood. And with silent sorrows and apologies, disappeared into nothing.
His disappearance was followed by the sound of breaking glass, and a quiet swish. Suddenly, she was floating in a dark void, as stars shimmered above her. She was lying on the unseen floor that littered with broken glass and blood.
And tears still poured from her eyes.
Why exactly can't her fantasy be her reality instead?
