Beep. Beep. Beep.
I woke up as I heard my alarm ringing and reached for it to switch it off. Today was the big move day and I was so excited to settle into my new home and new job. I was finally moving to New York, where I was offered a job in the New York Police Department.
My belongings had already been packed and sent to my new home. I only had a few boxes left in my room. I fed Rex, my dog and went to take a shower. Once I was done I put on some jeans, a t-shirt and some sneakers. I decided to airdry my hair and walked down the steps to my living room, I sure will miss this place.
I was just about to call my big brother, Jeremy when I heard the front door open and in walked my brother.
"Hey Rex," he said as Rex ran towards him and pounced on him wagging his tail. "Hey Al."
"Hey, so I already packed everything, now we really need to leave," I said and clapped my hands as I started picking my last items and placing them in the trunk of his car. He closed the door and left the key under the flower pot for the landlord.
He helped me put my things and placed Rex in the back seat. We both got in and strapped on our seatbelts.
"Thank you so much for doing this for me Jeremy," I said as I smiled at him. Since I had no car yet, my brother offered to drive me to New York which was just 4 hours away from my hometown. I told him I could use a bus but my brother insisted to drive me there himself, and so I ended up accepting.
"Of course, what kind of brother would I be if I let you off on your own," he said and started the engine then Rex barked in agreement and we both laughed and looked ahead.
I smiled at the road as my old neighborhood started fading and relaxed in my seat as I looked forward to what New York has in store for me.
