Rugrat

I sat down in the booth and dapped all of my dawgs up, and the waiter came to take our orders not long after.

I started reminiscing on the old days in Flo-town.

Justin and Quincy was first cousins, and they both lived with they grandma, Ms. Margaret. Christian was they neighbor.

Ms. Margaret was basically the "hood grandma".

She was the old lady that watched all the bad ass kids when they peoples went to work.

She ain't had one selfish bone in her body. I honestly think she woulda laid her life onna line for any of the kids she watched.

She paid special attention to Christian though.

Everybody in the neighborhood knew that his mama was a drug addict, and they would tease him about it.

"you a crybaby, that's why yo crackhead ass mama don't love you." Kids are assholes fr.

Ms. Margaret never let him get down about it though.

"Baby lemme tell you something. When you go home at night, don't you look at yo mama any different. Don't let these people get you down. If anything, love and hug yo mama a little harder. She needs it. Pray for her every morning and night. God will do what he sees fit for ha', that's fasho." She said pulling him in for a hug.

"And another thing, yo mama aint no crackhead" she looked in his eyes while she spoke. "She just pop a lil bit uh percs sometimes. Sniff a lil coke. But uh uh, she don't do no crack. Crack is whack." They both busted out laughing.

" They both busted out laughing

Ms. Margaret was deffly gone crack a joke if she could get one in.

After Christian mama died of an overdose when he was 13, he moved in with Ms. Margaret and the boys.

Them boys was inseparable. Wherever you seen Quince, just know lil Jus and Chris was right behind em.

I met all of em at a block party one night. Quince was 17, Jus was 15, and Chris was 14, like me.

Pops had me dealing on a corner and told me go mingle when I was done.

They the ones that introduced me to Glokk. Who woulda known these boys woulda still been my bruddas.

I had some niggas who ain't held up they end of the stick, but these niggas at this table always had my back.

Right or wrong, they was with they brudda.

as you fucking should be.

I got caught up in the memories, "I luh yall boys mane." Why i said that round they toxic masculinity head asses.

"THIS NIGGA IS GAYYYYYY." They gone kick us out this bitch if Glokk loud ass keep yelling.

"Braa, you know we love ya too. Even Glokk homophobic ass." Christian laughed, while the rest of them nodded saying fasho.

"Anyway, yall see shorty at the front?" we nodded. "I'm finna get herrr."Christian looked at her while licking his lips. "Yell at her Glokk".

"AYO SHORTY AT THE STAND". this nigga.

She turned around and Glokk signaled her over.

"What's yo name?" Chris smiled and asked her.

Glokk said, clearly still high, "You look like a honeybun."

...

"SHE SWEETER THAN A HONEYBUN, IMMA CALL HER HONEYBUN.." we all sung out laughing. Screamin Free da Main Sniper till he free..

She blushed and said, "It's Lelani."

Hold the fuck up.

"Damn that's beautiful. What's it mean?" Chris ass asked tryna sound all interested.

"Heavenly flower. My mom used to say that she handpicked me from God's garden." she smiled softly.

Oh fuck no. This my lil flower.

"Lelani???" I asked a lil louder than I planned on being.

She snapped her head and looked at me like she was mad or sum. "Oh you know me now?"

Gir- the fuck.

"Oh shit I didn't know y'all knew each other."

"We don't." I replied harshly. It was true though. We barely talked that night.

Besides, she was over here smiling in my mans face but she clearly remembered me.

Ain't even finna waste my time on no hoe or child.

"Uhmm well, if that's the case, can I get your number Lelani?" He asked in his hoe catching voice.

This nigga know I know her. imma beat his ass.

"How about you let me get yours?" She side smiled.

"Nah cause that's gone lead to an excuse for you not to text me. Put that 10 in my phone lil girrr." Chris laughed, making her laugh.

Ian find shit funny though. HE-HE-HELL.

"Alright, alright. You better text at a reasonable time too, sir". She smirked and began to walk off.

"Girl i'm finna text you, RIGHT NOW TODAY". Chris laughed again, and she did too.

Once again, I didn't find anything funny. These mfs was really flirting.

Now I gotta beat ha lul ass too. Jesus be a fence.

Glokk noticed something was wrong with me. "Ahhhh, I'm hungry too. Don't worry lil bra. The food gone be out soon."

"Yeah, yeah i know bra."

And surely enough, the waiter came out about a minute later.

"I remember when we cuh barely afford noodles mane. Wondering when i was gone eat again when i was wit my ol lady.. now we ain't ever gotta worry about that shit again." Chris spoke up after biting into his crab leg.

"We eat good erryday now." Jus said, dapping Quince up.

"Hell yeah. Fine dining." Glokk said with some dumbass accent, while tucking his napkin into his collar.

"Indeed." I replied but I wasn't all the way there at the moment.

I was too focused on Lelani to even hear the rest of the convo.

After we finished grubbing, we left a tip, and headed towards the door.

I looked back around for her one more time ...

Just to find her staring right back at me.

I don't care what i said, Chris was not finna have my lil honey.
