(A/N): Danny is my babyyyyyyyy. He's so cool, and I love him in the end of this chapter. More notes about him at the end. Enjoy, I quite like this one.
The slam of your car door was soon followed by Danny's as you stepped out into the open air of the parking lot of the Superstore you'd decided to go to. This store had all the food you could dream of as long as a limited clothing section, just big enough to buy the basics for everyone back at your home while still having enough variety to generally fit their tastes. Danny paused once he'd stood to his full height, staring around at the people bustling back and forth in and out of the store. He already looked the tiniest bit intimidated, though as he caught you staring and you shot him a smile, he set off towards the store, a little bit more confident. You hurry to catch up to him, walking along at his side.
"Overwhelming?" you ask with a side-glance, catching the shake of his head.
"No," Danny began, "Not as bad as I'd thought it'd be. It's just different not having to hide." an odd pang of sympathy filled your gut at those words. You could never imagine having to spend your whole life in hiding like he has.
"Would anyone ever recognize you?" that was one of the things that had been nagging in your head since you left the house. After the discovery that the killer was under the alias 'Jed Olsen', they'd matched a face to the name and pasted it all over the state. It had been a while since the posters showed up, though, so you weren't sure how nervous to be.
Danny simply shrugged as a response, "Who knows. Depends on who sees us, their memory, if I know them personally, etcetera etcetera. With your luck, Sweetheart, we might just get recognized." it was clearly a joke, but it made you a little unsettled anyways. Danny noticed, and took your hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "We'll be just fine, Honey." you take in a deep breath, and nod your head.
"Yeah, yeah we'll be alright." you arrive at the carts, pulling one away from the others and pushing it in through the big glass doors, into the market. The smell of crappy AC and the high noise levels hit you all at once, and you sigh. You'd never liked busy supermarkets like this one.
"So where to first?" Danny hopped onto the front of the cart, leaning against the front of it to face you. You smile, and roll your eyes as you always do with Danny.
"Food, obviously."
"Well, I mean like, what food?" he specifies, rolling his eyes right back at you.
"Just aisle to aisle. What dinners do you guys want this week?" you were pretty indifferent to what you made to eat, and were more focused on satisfying your housemates than yourself.
Danny thought for a moment, then gave up with a shrug.
"I'm not one for dinner ideas, unless you consider grilled cheese or soup variety." you entered the first aisle, scanning the shelves in silence. The first aisle was pretty empty of things that interested you, though Danny pointed out a flavour of tea you'd run out of that Brahms enjoyed. The next aisle held mainly snacks like chips, crackers and cookies; Danny stocked up on the cookies, grabbing one too many boxes but you let him have his fun and help himself just this once, a sort of unspoken 'thank you' for showing his face and trusting you. For dinners you stocked up on plenty, hoping to not have to come back to this store for a few weeks. It'd be pricey, but you had a huge fridge and a spare freezer in the basement so you could store up anything perishable. It took a good thirty minutes to get the food alone and your cart was packed, so you decided to purchase the food and store it in your car so you could have an empty cart for the clothes shopping. So now, you stood side by side in the mens clothing section, looking for the biggest size, the only one that would fit Michael and Jason.
