"this week, i'm assigning you into buddies to complete a project over the next week. you will have no class time to complete this, but you guys are seniors now and i'm sure you can figure out time outside of school to finish this!" mrs hunter said to the class, earning groans from us all, including me.
i zoned out completely as she read out the names, until i finally heard mine.
"kesley smith and ethan dolan" she said, causing my face to drop. you've got to be kidding me.
i looked over to him as he sat with his friends at the back of class, looking back at me with the biggest smile on his face.
the class finally came to an end, and i walked alone in the hall to my next class with my airpods in.
"hey babygirl" ethan said, pulling my airpod out of my ear.
"hi ethan, how could i help you" i asked sighing.
"you could give me your number so we can hangout to do our project?" he said nicely
"sure, pass your phone" i said, the two of us coming to a stop at my locker as i grabbed some books.
he handed it to me, and i put in my name and number.
"thanks gorgeous, see you after school?" he asked and i nodded my head.
"mine or yours?" he asked
"mine i guess, just don't be annoying" i said
"of course not. text me your address" he said smiling, walking away.
i got my things and headed to my class, sitting in the middle of the class waiting for the teacher.

i picked up my siblings from school, getting home before ethan arrived.
"hey momma, i have a friend coming over so we can work on our project for school" i said as i saw her in the living room.
"do i know this friend?" she asked
"i don't think so, but he's really nice" i smiled
"he?" she said
"mom it's fine" i shook my head.
"whatever, as long as you keep the door open" she said
