"Welcome back, Miss Kim. As my friend requested, you don't have to work tirelessly like before this time. If anything bothers you, don't hesitate to let me know."

I bowed to the director, thanking him, and walked out of his office to go to mine. From what I observed, there were a total of two cabinets, one safe, and three desk drawers along with his computer where I could find any document.

If I could find any document, that is...

When I opened the door to my old office room, I didn't see a single familiar face. The former employees were replaced by new, younger ones, and they all stared at me as I walked inside.

"I'll be working with you all starting today," I announced, bowing. "My name is Kim Ina."

They all bowed and welcomed me warmly. I was reminded of the time I was like that. Hardworking. Energetic. Naive. It was heartbreaking how they weren't aware of the end of their careers; either corruption or abandonment...

And I didn't know which one was worse.

"Jiyeon, have you finished the-" A female voice rang behind me and I whirled around to stand face to face with the blonde woman I hadn't seen for a long time. "I-Ina?"

"Soyeon," I muttered.

Gawking, she blinked a few times to check if I was actually standing in front of her. "When I heard an old employee was coming back, I never expected to see you here..." Her thick eyebrows furrowed. "What brings you back?"

Whether she was merely confused or actually threatening me, I felt uneasy by her question. She certainly did not have the rights to interrogate me like this.

"It's really none of your business, Soyeon," I sighed. "Don't let me interfere with your work."

She held my blank stare before tilting a side of her lips up. "Whatever," she dismissed me and turned to one of the other women in the room. "Did you finish the work I gave you?"

"Yes, chief," the woman answered, fumbling with her documents and I raised an eyebrow.

Chief?

"Soyeon, Mr. Kim, the politician wants to see you in your room," a husky voice called from the doorway and I turned to see another blonde person I knew.

His eyes met mine and widened greatly before darting to the floor. Him and Soyeon were promoted to a higher position so quickly.

"Okay," Soyeon said and followed him, leaving the room.

The rest of the day passed rather slowly. When I used to have piles and piles of works before, time would fly by in the blink of an eye. Now that I was given freedom and leniency, I never knew how entertaining it was to count the floor tiles and roam the hallway (note the sarcasm.)
