"It's just one of them days when I wanna be all alone" Aida hummed along to the Monica throwback as she waited at the microwave for her Hot pocket.
It was a cool Sunday morning , so she founded herself dressing in something comfy. Which happened to be an oversized grey set of sweats.

Today was what she considered to be "Sad Sunday "

Today was what she considered to be "Sad Sunday " . The last Sunday of each month where she would completely isolated herself from others and took time to meditate, cry , and binge-eat junk food with the addition of a playlist of all her favorite songs.

The sound of the microwave's beeps lifted her spirits as she hurriedly open it grabbing the Hot Pocket and placing it between her teeth. She then grabbed the giant size of Nacho Cheese Doritos and a small carton of Cookies N' Cream ice cream that awaited her on the counter.

She wobbled slowly to her room balancing her silver spoon on the tip of her nose.
Dropping everything on her bed she glanced at her phone making sure it was on Do Not Disturb .

Taking a quick glance in her full sized mirror she sighed. It was no doubt she was a beautiful young women , but in her mind she saw different. Aida just wanted to blend in aside with the crowd, she often wondered why her insecurities always over powered her.

Could it have been then the bullying she'd face for being "too brown" or not being your typical ig baddie that she always compared herself to?

What is beauty in America and why did she herself not fitting into that category??

Aida happily skipped through the Jasper Junior high , her hair in two large Afro puffs , a pretty red blouse with a matching plaid skirt. She spent hours picking out the perfect outfit for the day and even asked her mom to iron it for her.

In her hand she held a homemade valentine box that she made for her crush Daniel Evans, he was what her and her friends referred to a "Caramel Cutie " with curly hair and hazel eyes. She stayed up all night making the large heart filled with chocolate goodies . It was her group of friends that encouraged her to finally shoot her shot with Daniel.
She grew nervous as she made her way to Daniel's locker where he stood with two of his friends. Aida's friends watched from a nearby corner as the giggled. "She has no chance." They thought.

"Hi Daniel." She smiled widely holding the gift closer to her chest.
"Wassup Aida." He greeted back causing his friends to snicker.
Hearing him say her name brought butterflies to her stomach and caused her palms sweat.
" Um, I was wondering would you want to be my valentine?" She anxiously question while handing the heart to him.
Daniel places his head down as his friends bursted into laughter. "I'm sorry, Aida but I don't like black girls."
A frown found its way to her face as she watched him dropped her valentine heart right down on the ground before him and his entourage walked away . "Bye darkie! " the boys taunted her as the halls filled with laughter and Oooous.
