The Summer's evening sun illuminated the dark, desolate alleyways of Hollow City. The place was deserted, aside from the few ghost Pokemon inhabiting the few intact buildings. It was the perfect environment for a young Alolan Vulpix to start her first paranormal activity--the Ouija Board.

"Okay, so, I have the board, the candles, and the lighter. Am I missing something?" her voice echoed throughout the abandoned town. "I could have sworn I needed something else..." she started, looking around. "Eh, I'm sure I'll be fine, just as long as I'm careful with what I say and do."

She grabbed the bag with her maw once more and entered the nearest building. The light tapping of her paws against the hardwood floor reverberated against the walls of the building, adding on to the eeriness of her surroundings. The quiet howl of the wind through the broken windows caused the young vulpine to shudder.

"Is this a good idea...?" the ice type questioned. "It'll be fine! I'll be fine!" she reassured herself, finding a good place to set up her ritual. "I think I know what I'm doing..."

She entered a different room, lightly dropping the bag from her maw. Rummaging through the contents, she pulled out a box, a couple candles, a lighter, and a container of salt.

The ice fox set the board up, lit candles, and spread the salt. Upon finishing, she sat in the middle.

"I just go like this..." she muttered, lightly placing her right forepaw on the planchette. She shakily exhaled before speaking again, "Uhhh, hello?"

The board spelled out, 'Hello there, young one.'

     "Uh, what's your name?"

     'Idarax, young one. What's yours?'

"O-Oh, uhh..." she stuttered out nervously. "My name's Amaria!"

     'Ah, what a pretty name!'

"Thanks!" Amaria giggled out. "What kind of Pokemon ar- er- were you?"

'I was a Mightyena, dear. I had a son named Dolion and I adopted a shiny Zorua named Nico. Oh, how I wonder what they're currently up to...'

"Well, I'm sure they're doing just fine!"

'I hope so, Amaria. If you don't mind, can I ask you to go see if they're all right?'

"Hmmmm.... Of course! You know where they might be?"

'Well, Nico is most likely a Zoroark by now and lives with a Braixen named Scarlet. They should be in Darkheart City,' the board spelled out as Idarax. 'Dolion is a different case, though... That poor boy... He never left my side. The once cheerful, naive Poochyena I raised turned into a secluded, introverted Mightyena after he evolved...'

Amaria felt a familiar yet foreign feeling in her gut. Multiple options swirled through her head, ranging from being watched to being in complete solitude. She was cut from her thoughts as she heard whispers in the corner of the room. She let out a quiet shriek, quickly moving the planchette to 'GOODBYE'.

The young Alolan Vulpix carefully stood up and glanced over to the corner where she saw the movement. She hesitantly took a step forward, trying to get a better look at whatever being or deity that may be accompanying her.

The whispers soon turned to whimpers as the vulpine made her way towards the cause of them. Upon getting closer and letting her eyes adjust to newfound darkness, she found a little Duskull trying to hide from her.

"Hey, little guy," she smiled warmly at the ghost type. Her happy expression shifted into a more solemn one. "What's wrong? If you're scared I'm gonna hurt you, don't worry!"

The Duskull looked at her fearfully. His red pupils frantically scanned for an easy escape but he couldn't find one, so he pressed himself further into the corner.

Amaria noticed and whimpered quietly. "What's got you so scared?"

The Duskull just whimpered in response.

"I won't even touch you, I promise!" she instinctively backed up, her ears pinning back. "Just please trust me..."

He slowly stopped whimpering before moving his gaze to the Ouija Board. The look in his eyes seemed to become more frightful.

"You're afraid of the board?" she queried, tilting her head softly. "I'll go put it away!"

The ice type trotted over to where she had set up her "game". She quickly put all the pieces into the box and put it into her bag.

The Duskull watched her every move, curiousity filling his gaze. Quietly, he muttered something under his breath.

Slowly, he made his way out of the corner. The brightness of the florescent lights blinded his crimson eyes. He quickly closed his eyes, turning away from the light and let out a pained growl. The noise caused Amaria to look at him curiously.

The ghost type quickly recovered from the blind, his gaze now fixed on the young vulpine. Amaria backed up slightly, before her expression changed to one of happiness.

"I'm Amaria! What's your name?" her head cocked to the side slightly, her gaze fixed on the young ghost.

"I-I..." he started, glancing away from her. "I'm R-Runey..."

"Runey?" she asked, before getting a nod in response. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Runey!"

The greeting caused Runey to ease up. He floated around Amaria casually, before resting on her back. Amaria giggled softly, trotting around the room. The actions caused Runey to let out a stifled laugh, his crimson eyes gleaming with happiness for the first time in a while.

The duo kept going at what they were doing until a crash brought their attention elsewhere. Runey rushed back into his corner, while Amaria went to go investigate the noise.
