They were only half way through their thirteen day trek and already Kakarot was whining. Vegeta's eyebrow twitched as the idiot went on about how boring space is.

"Settle down, Kakarot! We'll get there when we get there. Instead of complaining, why don't you occupy your time with training?"

"How? These rooms are so small I can barely stretch my legs!" Goku threw his hands up in defeat.

"You're welcome to use the gravity chamber." Calder piped in. "It's located in the center of the ship."

"What?! You have a gravity chamber and you didn't tell me!? We've been on this ship for forever! I could have been training this whole time!!!"

"You never asked, Clown!" Vegeta's eyebrow twitched again.

"Alright! I'm gonna go see how high the setting can go!"

Goku started running towards the center of the ship. "Second door on the right!" Calder yelled after him.

Vegeta decided to take advantage of Kakarot finally leaving them in peace. He needed to know what kind of man his son had turned out to be.

"So... You and your mother spent all this time aboard this ship..."

"Yes." He said absentmindedly while sipping tea.

"You must have gone somewhere. Otherwise, how did you learn to fight?"

Calder glared at Vegeta. "You're asking a lot of questions..."

Vegeta crossed his arms. "You have my blood in your veins. I have the right to know who's done the job of training you."

Calder narrowed his eyes. "We stopped many times to replenish our food and fuel supply. One planet we stopped at had warriors like the one you call Piccolo. They were kind so we decided to spend some time there. They taught me how to fight and showed the Empress agriculture. We meant to go back there some time ago, but we couldn't find it again."

"You couldn't find it because it was destroyed. "

Calder choked on his tea and stared at Vegeta in shock.

"Don't worry. The Namekians were evacuated beforehand. You have Kakarot to thank for that... As for it's destruction, that was Frieza's doing."

Calder looked away. He wasn't sure what to think about the news. At least everyone was safe.

"How exactly did the two of you manage to take over the Frieza Force anyway? I'm sure they weren't thrilled about suddenly going from conquerors to diplomats of peace."

"Yes. Well..." Calder put down his tea and stared into it. "My mother only managed to recruit a small number of them... She sent me and two of the strongest warriors to kill any others we could find."

"Killed by their own brothers in arms... What a disgraceful way to go... One more question... Regarding your mother." Calder scowled but waited for the question patiently. "... Why doesn't Lyra hate my very existence? If I were her, I would have killed me on the spot."

"Don't mistake her ability to forgive as a lack of hatred." Calder's voice was low again. It sent a shiver down Vegeta's spine. "She needs you to lead the Saiyans. If she knew how to teach them herself she wouldn't have bothered coming to you." Calder took a sip of his tea and returned to his usual relaxed demeanor.

The two sat in silence. Vegeta let what he said sink in... Then Calder decided it was his turn to ask questions.

"So... How long have you and Kakarot been mates?"
