~Nikki~
I woke up this morning and turned on the TV as I made breakfast. It showed a beautiful Egyptian woman named Ishizu Ishtar. She was bringing over Egyptian artifacts. I thought it sounded interesting. I wonder...maybe I can find out more about Naira. Yugi and Grandpa walked into the kitchen.
"Good morning, Nik," Yugi greeted. I smiled at them.
"Morning, guys," I greeted back. I finished breakfast and served the food. I then heard the phone ring and walked over. "Moto residence," I said.
"Hi, Nikki," I heard a velvety voice greet. I smiled.
"Hi, Seto. What's up?" I asked. Yugi and Grandpa both looked at me as soon as I said Seto's name.
"I've been invited to the Egyptian Exhibit and I was wondering if you wanted to go with me," he told me. I blushed a little.
"Like a date?" I asked.
"Yes, we'll even have lunch afterward. What do you say?" Seto asked me. I grinned.
"I'd love that," I replied.
"Great, I'll pick you up and ten," he told me.
"You got it. See you then," I told him. He said his goodbye and I hung up. I quickly ate my breakfast, washed my plate, and ran to my room to get ready. I looked through my closet and found a blue dress. I couldn't help but smile since it reminded me of Seto's blue eyes. I grabbed a lacey vest, and my black buckle boots. I took a shower, got , and put on some light make-up. I then put on my Millennium Bracelet and the blue crystal necklace Seto gave me. I then walked downstairs to see Yugi dressed for the day and Grandpa opening the shop. Tea, Tristen, and Joey were here too. Yugi saw me and gawked.
"Wow!" He gasped. The others looked at me. Tristen and Joey blushed as Tea fawned over my outfit and Grandpa smiled.
"My dear, you look beautiful," he told me. I smiled at him.
"Thanks, Grandpa," I replied.
"I suddenly wish I was Kaiba," I heard Joey mutter. I looked at Yugi and winked. He got the message and smirked. I walked up to Joey acting a little seductive.
"Why is that, Joey?" I asked letting a finger gently trail his jaw. His blush darkened and he gulped.
"Y-you look r-really pretty," he stuttered. I looked at Tristen and tilted my head a little.
"What do you think, Tristen?" I asked. He blushed more too.
"Y-you look gorgeous, N-Nikki," he stuttered next. I heard Yugi and Tea snickering at them. I chuckled.
"Good, that means Seto will like it," I smirked. "Thanks for the insight, boys," I told them. I heard a car honk. "Oh, there's my ride. See you all later," I giggled. Tea and Yugi broke out laughing as Grandpa chuckled and Tristen and Joey stood there, mouths gaped open. Oh yeah, I think Seto will like it.
~Seto~
I was waiting by the car waiting for Nikki. I actually felt a little nervous. It is my first date, so that's normal, right? I saw the door open and swore I saw an angel walk out. Nikki was dressed in a blue dress, a laced vest, and black boots. The only items of jewelry she wore were her Bracelet and the necklace I gave her. It was simply, but she looked beautiful.
"That's the reaction I was hoping for," Nikki giggled. I snapped out of it and didn't know I was blushing a little and I forced it down. She walked up to me with her beautiful smile. "By the reaction, I guess I made a good choice," she said. I nodded with a small smile. I grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles making her blush.
"You look beautiful," I told her.
"And you look handsome," she said back. I opened the door for her and let her slid in. I followed and the driver took us to the museum. Once there, the driver opened the door.
"We're here, sir," he stated.
"Keep the engine running, we won't be long," I ordered as Nikki climbed out of the car. Nikki and I then walked into the museum. That's when we saw Ishizu and a man beside her.
"Thank you for coming, Seto Kaiba," Ishizu said to me. She then looked at Nikki. "And I see you've brought Nicole Fudo along as well. Good," she added.
"Okay...confusion," I heard Nikki mutter under her breath.
"Where are the other guests?" I asked.
"I said this was a private exhibition. You were the only one invited with the exception of one guest. It makes business so much easier," Ishizu stated.
"We've locked all the entrances," I heard from behind me.
"No one can get in or out," another said. I felt Nikki grab my hand letting me know she was worried. I gave her hand a gentle squeeze.
"It's only been a minute but I'm already bored. If you don't tell me what this is all about we'll be leaving now," I said turning with Nikki. I mainly just came here because I knew Nikki was fascinated with Egypt.
"Excuse us, we've faced a string of theft and we have to be careful. You and Nicole may leave anytime you wish, Seto Kaiba. However, I believe it's in your best interest, as well as Nicole's, to see all that we have to offer," Ishizu told me.
"Really now?" I turned with a smirk. "And how do you know what's best for us?" I asked challengingly. Nikki squeezed my hand as a way of saying not to push it.
"Please, come this way," Ishizu said turning. We followed her then. I let go of Nikki's hand and wrapped my arm around her waist in case of anything. "Kaiba, do you believe in destiny?" She asked.
"Does it matter?" I countered.
"Ancient Egyptians thought that the path of one's life was predetermined because history repeats itself throughout the ages in a never ending circle," Ishizu said capturing Nikki's attention. "They would say it wasn't your choice to come here for it was destined that the three of us would meet," she added.
"Look, all that nonsense may interest you, but I didn't come here for an Egyptian 101. I came here because you said it would be worth my while, but it looks like you've wasted my time. If there's a point to this then get to it already. I have a company to run," I told her. Honestly, I would rather get back to spending time with Nikki alone.
"Seto..." Nikki whispered.
"You said you had an exclusive offer for me. I know everything about Duel Monsters and nothing can stop Exodia, so quit the charade and tell me what's going on," I demanded.
"All in good time, Kaiba. Duel Monsters is based upon a five thousand year old game. It was played by ancient Egyptians for power and was extremely dangerous," Ishizu said.
"The Shadow Games," Nikki gasped. How does she know this? Ishizu nodded at her with a small smile.
"Who cares?" I asked Ishizu.
"Maximillion Pegasus did. He fell in love with the game and decided to reinvent it for modern time," she explained.
"What's your point?" I asked.
"I'm getting to it. Unbeknownst to most duelists, Pegasus created a series of all powerful cards that were never released to the public. It's no surprise he kept the strongest monsters for himself," Ishizu informed. I'll admit, I was interested to find out. "Follow me, Kaiba and I'll reveal the reason I called you here today," she told me before walking off. Nikki sighed.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt. Well, come on," she said pulling me in Ishizu's direction.
"Nikki..."
"Aren't you the least bit curious?" She asked me.
"Curiosity killed the cat," I reminded her. She smirked.
"Good thing a cat has nine lives," she countered. I sighed.
"There's no winning against you, is there?" I asked her. She shook her head.
"Nope, now come on. Honestly, I need some questions answered," she told me. Now, I'm very curious. What questions is she talking about? She saw my questioning gaze and sighed. "It's about the Bracelet I'm wearing. According to what my grandfather Orin told me, it was from ancient Egypt. I want to find out more about it," she clarified. She's curious over an old trinket? "Don't give me that look, Seto. If you had experienced what I have, you would understand," she told me. Now what is she talking about? I swear, there's times where she doesn't making any sense. "Look, I'll explain it all later, okay?" Nikki asked. I nodded to her and we followed Ishizu.
"I've secured the most precious artifacts here. We've recovered stone carvings that depicts the earliest known game played in Egypt. I'm sure you'll find it most familiar. Kaiba, behold the origin of Duel Monsters," Ishizu said to me. Nikki and I walked into the room then and stood in front of a tablet. The lights turned on and we saw it. Our eyes widened.
"It can't be!" I said.
"These carvings look like Duel Monster cards!" Nikki added.
"Then that means your story is true!" I realized.
"I see, you've come to your senses. Nicole, I'm surprised considering you knew of this already," Ishizu told her. I looked at Nikki shocked.
"More like I had a theory...but I thought it was just some crazy dream," Nikki told her.
"Understandable. Furthermore there is a theory that in ancient times these monsters were real. Egyptian sorcerers summoned monsters to earth to do their bidding, but they soon realized the monsters could not be controlled. They destroyed countless villages and brought earth to the brink of destruction. The citizens turned to the Pharaoh and the Princess for help, but they could not permanently defeat the monsters. They managed to use their magic to seal them into stone tablets and bring peace to the world. However, over time evil sorcerers learned to control the monsters and released them the tablets. With their army of powerful monsters, the sorcerers were confident no one could stand in their way. They betrayed the Pharaoh and Princess and raged a full out war against then," Ishizu informed as Nikki and I looked at the tablet. Ishizu walked up to another tablet. "This is the one you both must look at. This carving is the reason I've called you here today and I knew you would bring Nicole," she told me. Nikki and I walked over to where Ishizu was. "It depicts one of the main conflicts between the Pharaoh and his greatest opponent. Closely examine this artifact. After this moment, Kaiba, yours and Nicole's lives will never be the same," Ishizu said. Nikki and I looked at the tablet and gasped.
"That's the Pharaoh?! But, that's Yugi! And the monster carved above him is the Dark Magician!" I said.
"To the left is the sorcerer fighting against him. That's you, Kaiba. If you still have any doubt, look at his monster. It's the Blue Eyes White Dragon," Ishizu told me. I was shocked to see that she was right. "And for Nicole, look above the two duelists," she said. Nikki and I looked up...there was a girl on there.
"T-that looks like me!" Nikki gasped. Ishizu nodded.
"Yes, that is Princess Naira and the monster beside her is the Queen of Angels," Ishizu told her. Nikki looked completely shocked and held her Bracelet, and I could see that Princess Naira was wearing the same one. Where these the answers Nikki was looking for? "The hieroglyphics read that the mighty sorcerer marched into the Pharaoh's chamber and challenged him and his legion of noble magicians to a legendary duel, placing the fate of the world at stake. The Princess was determined to stop them...to keep the peace between her brother and her husband," Ishizu informed. Husband?! "The Pharaoh accepted the sorcerer's challenge and their epic battle began. Both opponents unleashed their most powerful monsters against each other. The sorcerer fighting to control the world and the Pharaoh and his loyal followers fighting to save it. Today, five thousand years later, this ancient battle is being played out once again. Do you see? Now do you believe in destiny, Kaiba?" Ishizu asked. I gripped my briefcase handle.
"This can't be real, there's no way! This piece of rock has got to be a fake!" I denied.
"If you don't trust my words, then you must go back in time and experience a part of the battle first hand which I can help you do with my Millennium Necklace," Ishizu said. Suddenly her necklace started glowing making me and Nikki back up. It's then Nikki's Bracelet started glowing with it. "Now, open your mind and see into the past!" Ishizu said. All of a sudden, Nikki and I were floating over a room.
"What is this place?" I asked.
"I hereby declare a challenge to the Pharaoh, by the rights of tradition duel me if you are not a coward," I heard. I looked at the man who sounded like me...he looked exactly like me!
"Magic powers hear my cry, release the monster trapped inside," I heard the cloaked men chant.
"As the Pharaoh's loyal servant, I shall stand against you, traitor!" I heard a man call over. He then summoned the Winged Guardian. "I banish you all to the Shadow Realm!"
"Please, do not do this!" I heard a woman say. She did indeed sound like Nikki and looked like her as well. "Brother, please, stop this duel now!" Naira cried. Her brother didn't reply. The blue dragon attacked defeating the other monster. Lightning strikes down banishing the men behind the sorcerer.
"Oh no, what is this?" I asked surprised.
"I wish I knew, Seto," Nikki replied. We were then back in our world.
"The duel raged on with neither side showing any mercy, much to the Princess' protests. They summoned monsters that were increasingly more powerful and vicious. The winner of the duel was written here, but as you can see, the hieroglyphics are worn away," Ishizu said as I stood up, recovering from the shock. Nikki was helping me up.
"I see," I muttered.
"Yes, we don't know the outcome, there is still so much we can learn. Let us take a glance at the past again using the powers of my Millennium Necklace," Ishizu said. We were dragged back and saw the sorcerer summoning the same Genie I have in my deck.
"Your La Jinn may be strong, but did you think I would not come prepared? It is no match for the combined fury of my dragons!" The opponent said. The monster appeared. "Unite my dragons, you shall be unstoppable!" The two dragons came together to form a golden dragon. "Attack, bombard the traitor with Blazing Inferno!" The opponent ordered. The dragon attacked defeating La Jinn. More of the men behind the sorcerer disappeared.
"Brother, I am begging! Stop this duel!" Princess Naira cried looking worried at the sorcerer.
"You have not won yet, Pharaoh. It is far from over. Do you think one of your pathetic minions has the magic to defeat me? I will shatter them from existence right before your very eyes!" The sorcerer said.
"Both of you, please! Just stop this!" Naira shouted as her Queen of Angels appeared. We were now back in our world.
"That sorcerer is a big mouth losing chump. You can't compare him to me!" I told Ishizu.
"Well then, maybe the final vision will convince you," Ishizu said.
"No!" I refused, but her Necklace and Nikki's Bracelet glowed again.
"You should have finished me off when you had the chance, now I will call forth the ultimate beast of destruction! Now Pharaoh, this is the end. My faithful monsters, you have all served me well. Awake from your slumber and obey me one final time! Behold, I will offer them and fuse them into the legendary dragon! Now, the Blue Eyes White Dragon!" The sorcerer called. The dragon appeared.
"The Blue Eyes White Dragon?!" I gasped. The pharaoh stood.
"White Dragon, destroy them all with your White Lightning," the sorcerer ordered. It's then the Blue Eyes destroyed the monsters. "Victory is mine!" The sorcerer declared. I looked at the Princess who still seemed worried. Nikki had been quiet, obviously a big shock for her as it was me. We were back to the real world again.
"Now are you convinced, Kaiba? As I've said before, destiny is bound to repeat itself. It's not just coincidence Yugi's your greatest opponent. You two have battled in the ancient past! As for you and Nicole, you were also destined to meet," Ishizu told me. I looked at Nikki who was looking at me. "It was destiny you and Yugi dueled, and you will be destined again," Ishizu added. I grabbed my suit case as Nikki and I stood up.
"Thanks for the lecture, but I make my own destiny and I do what I want to do," I told her before Nikki and I started to walk away.
"Kaiba, what I thought you wanted to were powerful monsters," Ishizu said making me stop. "Duel Monster cards that surpass the power of Exodia. What if I told you they were in front of your eyes the whole time?" Ishizu asked.
"What?" I turned.
"Take a look at the top over the Princess. They were the strongest and most feared creatures of annihilation. Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, the Winged Dragon of Ra. Control one, destroy a million armies. Control all three and the planet itself will quake in fear," Ishizu said as I heard Nikki's breathing hitch.
"And Pegasus turned them into cards?" I asked.
"Yes."
"You lie! If he had them, why didn't he use them in Duelist Kingdom?" I asked.
"Because Pegasus feared the power of these Egyptian God Cards. You cannot fathom the magical energy contained within. Pegasus could not control he power in the cards he created. They threatened to overwhelm and destroy him," Ishizu said. Cards that make even Pegasus quake in his boots. If I can obtain the three legendary monsters, I'll be unstoppable in any duel and Yugi won't stand a chance. But how can I get them? I can't ask Pegasus, he's dropped off the face of the earth. They have to exist somewhere.
"Ishizu, what did Pegasus do with the cards?" I asked.
"He gave them to me for safe keeping. Pegasus realized if these cards fell into the wrong hands, it could lead to the end of the world. He had me bury them in secret locations, but the cards were discovered. I must find them and hide them once again," Ishizu said.
"You mean someone already found the cards?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Tell me who," I demanded. Nikki grabbed my hand.
"The Rare Hunters," Ishizu answered.
"Rare Hunters?" I questioned.
"They are ruthless underground set of duelists. They rob and steal rare cards worldwide to sell on the black market for enormous profits. However, they keep the strongest cards for themselves to create strong decks that destroy all opposition. They operate in shadows so they are hard to find. That is why I need your help to draw them out into the open. Kaiba, if you were to start a Duel Monsters tournament, your reputation would attract the greatest duelists in the world. This would be the greatest concentration of precious cards ever assembled in one location," Ishizu said.
"I see, it's a trap. The Rare Hunters won't be able to resist such tempting bait. They'll come by coves, like vultures to a rotting carcass," Nikki said.
"And they'll bring the Egyptian God Cards," I smirked.
"One last thing, take this card," Ishizu said handing me a card. My eyes widened.
"Can it be? It's Obelisk the Tormentor! I thought the cards were stolen!" I said.
"I never said they were all stolen. I managed to retrieve one in time. Another was accidently dug up by an exhibitionist. But I believe he kept the card safe until he handed it down to another trust worthy duelist. You may barrow it during the tournament, but I expect it back," Ishizu told me. It's not every day a card this powerful is handed to me.
"What if I chose to keep it forever? What makes you think I can be trusted?" I asked with a smirk. "I could walk out and you'd never see it again," I said.
"You will return the cards," Ishizu told me. Nikki and I started walking away. "I have foreseen it," she added.
"I bet," I retorted.
"You may not yet believe in destiny, but before the tournament is done, you will have to face your past," Ishizu said.
"I know you, I read that once in a fortune cookie. I'll organize this tournament," I said.
"Thank you."
"But I'm not going to set it up because of your fairy tales and your hocus pocus mind tricks. I want to reclaim my title as the number one duelist," I told her before Nikki and I walked off. We made it back to the car, Nikki was silent while we were on our way to lunch. I looked at the card and smirked. One card down and two more to go. We made it to a café and placed our orders. Nikki still hadn't said anything. "Nikki, are you okay?" I asked her. She appear to snap out of thought.
"Just overwhelmed. Honestly, I'm not liking this tournament idea," she said.
"Why?" I asked curious.
"I feel that something terrible will happen. If someone does get all three cards and in the wrong hands, everything we know will be gone," she said. I scoffed.
"Don't tell me you believe in that hocus pocus," I said. She rolled her eyes.
"Oh? And what about the part where your past life was married to my past life? I thought I saw a spark of happiness when you heard that," she smirked. I did my best to fight down the blush. I'll admit, I was happy about the thought of marrying Nikki.
"Doesn't matter. I plan to find those Egyptian God Cards to take back my title," I shrugged off. Nikki frowned.
"Right, cause nothing's more important than a title," she said with sarcasm.
"My title is important," I told her. I then saw hurt in her eyes.
"A title is nothing compared to what you already have," she said standing. She left and I placed money on the table before following her. I ran up and grabbed her hand.
"And what do I already have?" I asked her.
"How about a little brother and a girlfriend who happen to care for you? Aren't those more important than some stupid title?" She asked. I frowned.
"Of course you guys are important to me," I told her before I kissed her knuckles. She sighed and hugged me around my waist as my warms wrapped around her small frame.
"Just don't let this tournament get in the way of what's really important then, okay?" She asked me. I smiled a little and kissed her head to assure her.
"Promise," I replied. I took her home then and kissed her before I left. I would never let anything get in the way of me and the two people I care about.
